I am going to really get burned :fork: :fork: :fork: for this one by a good amount of people, so understand that this is just based off of my experience.

I bought Pal Mickey for our last trip. I feel that it was a waste of money, plus a pain to lug around. Again, this is only my opinion, but I just thought that the money could have gone to somethings else.

Also note that it seemed my pal mickey didn't do half the things he was suppose too. We thought he was broken and when we took him back to the store, we were told that PAL doesn't always work "flawlessly". I am not sure what that is suppose to mean, but all in all (even if he did work all the time).... to me, it was wasted money. Maybe if he wasn't so expensive I'd have a better outlook on him.

I am sure others have had great experiences with Pal Mickey. So, hopefully they can give you a more positive vibe on the issue.

Happy Holidays!!!:xmas:

PS. He was about 65.00 (if I remember correctly, give or take a few)

I've never had Pal Mickey not work. He works just fine. However, there is a bug in the current system ("Sorcerer Mickey" edition) at Epcot where he can "lose" his connection with the sensors. If this happens, you need to open him up, take out the batteries and put them back in. This "resets" PM. You can have it done for you at Mouse Gears since it takes a screwdriver to open his compartment.

This is the first major bug however. I have the original version and the HCOE edition and both work flawlessly. I find him a lot of fun personally and while he does tell bad jokes, to me, it's all in the spirit of the thing. He's not a serious tour guide, but it is a lot of fun to have Mickey talk to you throughout your day.

He is $65 currently and available in all four parks, Downtown Disney and several hotels I believe.

As for trading pins, yes you can still do it. My kids had fun trading with CM. We bought some pin lots on ebay before going so we had some to start with. I also took and extra lanyard for the ones they wanted to keep.

The only bummer was my 3 year old lost his lanyard our 2nd day. You could tell it was a child's because my sister had shortened it to fit him and it has Buzz Lightyear on the end. We contacted lost and found several times with no luck. Whoever found it, kept it. My son was very upset. We did buy him a new one but it wasn't the same.

Jessie & Buzz,
I feel your pain. We too had a child lose her lanyard and checked daily at lost and found to no avail! Someone became a very happy person, albeit not an honest happy person! Coming up with a better plan for next weeks trip!

I don't know which version my pal mickey is (he is not Sorc. Mickey though). I got him last year. He just looks like a plain old MIckey mouse purchased from MGM. But that is exactly what he does, he loses his connection with the sensors.

Can anyone point me to a direction for more details of the pin trading thing? Or, explain it? My daughter asked about it the last trip to WDW, but I don't understand it. I found a little information on it with some explanations, but still foggy on the whole precess, how it works,....

I love my Pal Mickey, totally worth the money, and he always worked in the parks. He still works now at home, tells jokes, and you can play many fun games with him too. We've got the updated Happiest Celebration On Earth version with the gold coin in his hand!
