Question about linking different credit cards to magic bands

Four adults staying under same reservation/room at AKL. Myself, my DH, my DMIL, and a very good friend.

I plan to link my credit card to mine and my DH's magic bands like we've done on past trips.

The other two ladies would also like the ease of paying for things using their magic bands. Can you ask for separate credit cards to be linked for separate magic bands when all four people are staying under the same reservation/ room?

Or could my card be on file and separate bills be issued for each card?

We will pay our bill in full every couple days to make sure we don't hit the limit... and so that no actual charges end up on my credit card because the exchange rate is awful on the credit card!

I guess I just want to know if there is a way that everyone can use their magic band to pay for things... but all be billed separately so we aren't trying to figure out what everyone owes each day? I can imagine with meals, random snacks, souvineers, etc. that it could get messy.

Any help is appreciated!

Yes, separate cards can be assigned to each person, if desired.

Each person will have their own PIN to enter for purchases, and you can put a card down for each person. Each person will also have their charging limit, which for AKL is $1500. If you'd like to have that set lower than that, many front desk CM's know how to do that (though it might take a manager).

A few notes:
-To make things go smoother, I suggest *not* setting up room charging if you do the online check-in. (Or skip online checkin altogether)
-Be prepared to spend a few extra minutes while checking in. I'd say it takes 3-4 minutes per person to get the charge accounts set up.
-Setting up the accounts is a multi-step process and may not occur in the order you think they would. First, each person will set their own PIN to access their account. Once all PINs are set, *then* the CM will ask each person for the credit card for their account.

You can pay down the balance as you go, if you want. Each person will then get an itemized bill under the door on your checkout day.

We've run the gamut: One room, two people, one card. One room, three people, three cards. One villa, five people, four cards... It's nice to have, just be prepared for some patience when checking in. :)

Thank you so much for your response Rob! That was exactly what I needed to know. I appreciate the check in advice as well. I have always linked my credit card through online check in the past... but I won't this time if it complicates things for the cast Member at check in. We are very patient... and we're arriving around 7pm with no plans other than eating and settling in so we can wait for everything to be set up. It will be worth the extra few minutes to have separate bills over our 10 day trip!

Thanks again!

You'll need to do this at the front desk, but yes you can link a card to each MB. Just ask at the front desk to have cards individually linked. If the CM says it's not possible, ask for another CM or a manager. Some just don't want to take the time.

That's too bad some CM don't want to take the time. :(

I will keep this in mind though. For a 10 day trip it will be a lot easier to take some time at check in to set everything up separately then to try and figure it out day by day.

I will skip our usual online check in as well... I don't want to take up too much CM time at the online check in spot!

I do online check in every time and link different credit cards to each magic band of other people. It only takes a minute to do. If the CM doesn't know how to do it just ask for a supervisor and they can do it at another terminal as to not hold up the line.

I am fairly certain you cannot.

The reason being that the Bands aren't really attached to your credit card. Rather, they are attached to your resort room charges, which are THEN cleared out by a credit card attached to your account.

Yup. The only thing that's really changed is *how* you're accessing your Room Charge account. For years you handed over your mag-stripe room key card to charge to your room. Now you tap your Band and enter your PIN.

The distinction of who can and can't room charge has not changed.

For those staying at the Swan/Dolphin, you can still use an old Band for your park ticket, FP+ and PhotoPass. You'll just get a key card from the hotel to get into your room (and you can use that card to charge to your room, but it's only for locations within the Swan/Dolphin)

After you have your first magic band, you technically dont need to stay at a disney resort to use it and still can link park entrance tickets and credit cards to it. The way to do it is online. You create a my disney experience account online (https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/plan/ ) and trough there you can control how many magic bands you have, you can add the park tickets to it and a credit card.

Note: People get confused because disney will send you a magic band every time you do a reservation with them and think thats the onli one you are allowed to use, but like i said after you have the first one all you do is keep linking all new reservations, tickets, cards, memory maker, etc to the "account" and in the account you can have multiple bands. My sister has like 6 bands and she just picks which one she wants to use any given day, all of them are link equally with he annual pass and credit card.

This is not completely correct. While you CAN use old MagicBands for park admission and fastpass, unless you are staying at a DISNEY resort you CANNOT use a MagicBand for charging anything (even if a credit card is "stored" in a MDE profile.)

Yup. The credit card you store in MDE is just the default card the system uses for anything you buy on the website and is the card put on file for dining reservations that gets charged if you're a no-show.
