Question about Fort Wilderness Lodge (Golf Carts and Lot Options)

Hey Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the Fort Wilderness Lodge and in particular options pertaining to lots (what the offer, the pricing tiers) for Campers. We're thinking about someday renting a Trailer at the campsite, and I think we'd want to rent the kind which has full hookups (and by that I mean Water, Sewer, Electricity - enough to run A/C, a Dryer etc...) and enough space for expandable sides. Basically, a trailer something like what's displayed here in this video:

Speaking of that video, he mentions that camper lots get a complementary golf cart. I can't seem to find more details about that amenity, could someone shed some light on that?

First, there is no such place as Fort Wilderness Lodge. There is the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, and there is the Wilderness Lodge, two very different places. As you mention campers, you have to be referring to Fort Wilderness. They do have golf carts available, but they are certainly not complimentary, more like available to rent at $59.00 per day.
As for campsites, there are several different campsite levels available ranging from tent and popup sites up to full hookup premium sites. Not sure what you mean by renting a trailer? There are outside companies that rent campers and will even deliver and set them up for you at Fort Wilderness, but they are not Disney companies. Perhaps some of them provide complimentary golf carts when you rent a camper from them. Here is a link for Fort Wilderness.

This is good information. Fort Wilderness is one of my favorites. We have rented cabins and brought our trailer. Disney does not rent campers, they do rent cabins. My complimentary gold cart ran me about $60.00 per day. like epcotisbest stated, there may be some outside company that does this, but it ain't Disney!

They used an outside company for that rental (it's probably mentioned in the video). You pay the company for the rental of the trailer but you have to reserve and pay for the campsite. One of the perks of renting from this trailer company is that the golf carts are included in the price of the trailer rental.

Disney allows outside golf carts in FW?
I'm not doubting you, I just never thought about it before.

When you rent a camper from a place like campatthefort.com some of their package deals include a golf cart so it is like your own, like you brought it yourself.

Yes, they do. However... they don't really allow outside companies to deliver golf carts into Fort Wilderness. The camper rental people get around this by delivering the golf carts when the deliver the trailers. There is at least one other outside company that rents into Fort Wilderness, but he gets away with it because the golf carts never leave the campground. He just stashes them in various places around the fort and then tells renters where to pick them up.

Campers are always allowed to bring their own golf carts in as long as they meet Disney's criteria.

Thanks for the updates. I think since we're traveling in a larger party early 2015 we've decided to go to AKL Kidani Village for now, but i'm super interested in coming with my family here perhaps the next year or so (we usually come on a yearly basis). That being said In terms of my original questions, I should have been more concise from the beginning :):

- When I spoke of the trailer/camper rental companies, I did not mean I was looking to arrange that through disney itself (I am aware they don't do that) but just curious what companies people have used and what options were out there. Anyone with any experience? I wonder if it's possible to get a bit of a preview of a particular company's trailers while we're in the area January 2015? ;)

To expand on my original question, I was looking to get a pretty fully featured camper like the one shown in the video - a washer/dryer and/or dishwasher (if it exists) would be very cool. Obviously, for this kinda stuff you need to have hookups for Electrical, Water and the like. Does disney have Sewage hookups as well or do the trailers have to hold it and "dump it" at some point towards the end (I'm not that familiar with using trailers.

- Kinda related to the above point, which sites have the ability for a "full hookup" setup and are ideal locations. I'd prefer a place off the beaten path that's a bit more private / quiet if possible if we'd have the golf cart to get around.

- That company mentioned in the video leaves an electric Golf Kart with the trailer rental you purchase. I only figured that out after the fact - I thought they gave you some sort of credit to arrange to get a disney-owned golf cart - I guess you can disregard that question.
