Question about Finalizing Reservations

We are leaving in a few days and I was wondering has anyone actually called to confirm their stay and any requests that you might have a couple of days before? The only reason I ask is because this our first time at The Animal Kingdom Lodge and my kids hate to sleep in the same bed so we requested bunks, how much of a pain is this? I would appreciate any input you all have!!!!! Thanks in advance:)

We always call a few days before arrival whenever we travel so WDW is no different.
A request for Bunkbeds is just that a request, not a given.
Do the rooms in the AKL sleep 5? I haven't stayed there, but most deluxes do and there is also a daybed...that is I how solve our problem of kids who hate to share.

Go ahead and give them a call. make sure you have all your infor on hand and mention the bunkbed request to make sure its noted.

A family friend of ours booked a standard room at WL and requested bunk beds and when they weren't given one. They went up to the front desk and asked if there were any rooms with them available, they were given a free upgrade. Just ask nicely. :)

Let me be of some assistance...

Please remember, if you call the resort directly before you check-in, the switchboard is instructed redirect your call to the reservation center, not the front desk.

Your specific room assignment will not be confirmed until you are presently standing at the Front Desk ready to check-in. You will not be able to find out if any of your requests will be honored until that time. By calling Disney all you can do is confirm your reservation is booked, and what if any request are noted. This information can also be verified by reviewing your travel documents, or logging into "my disney vacation" at www.disneyworld.com.

You may however want to see if what you request is even possible. For example, for arrivals in 2006, bunk beds are only available at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge in a limited number of rooms in these room categories:

Standard Pool View Room
Standard Savanna View Room
Deluxe Pool View Room
Deluxe Savanna View - Bunk Bed Room
Standard Room - Kilimanjaro Club
2 Bedroom Suite - Kilmanjaro Club

If you are booked in a "Standard View Room", or a "Deluxe Savanna View Room", a bunk bed request cannot be honored, as there are no bunk beds in these room categories.

Just to clairfy, the "Deluxe Savanna View Room" and the "Deluxe Savanna View - Bunk Bed Room" are two separate room categories, each of which can be specifically booked based on availablity.

For arrivals stating in 2007, most rooms with bunk beds at both Lodges will be listed separately as their own room category, (simular to the "Deluxe Savanna View Room" example above) allowing Guest to know in advance if these beds are available for their stay.

Do keep in mind nothing will guarantee you get your request, that really will always depend on what rooms are scheduled to be vacant on the date you check-in. Sometimes there are only a few of rooms in your room category for the room coordinators or front desk cast to choose from.

I hope this help!

We had Savanna view room and just happened to get bunk beds. We didn't request it -- it just worked out that way. This was in value season though. And it was also the second room we were given. The first room we found unsatisfactory (we paid for Savanna and got a view of a tree and a chain link fence). Perhaps they gave us a nicer room to get us out of their hair after we complained. :lookaroun

thanks!!!

Thank you all I really appreciate the info. We did book a AKL pool view and the reason I was concerned is because my daughter is 12 and my son is 7 unfortunately I don't have 2 of the same which makes it a little tougher as they grow. They always loved to share and this time they just suggested that maybe they would like to sleep seperate. They were very cute they asked as if they were putting us out. I'm hoping it all goes smoothly. I did book in 2004 at the Carribean beach (water view) and all the view had was aHUGE palm tree, we called down and they said they would send a gardener, we said ok but it's big next thing you know they were going to move us and I had already unpacked and declined so the refunded us the money. Every time we go we have had pretty good service. So again thank you all. I will give a call ask very nicely and see what happens.
