We have been watching Disney movies in preparation for our trip and this week we watched the classic Fantasia and we found it....well...BORING! I know that is probably Disney blasphemy to some of you and I am so so sorry! Any way my question is even though we were not a fan of the movie do you think we will still enjoy Fantasmic? Any others who didnt like the movie but loved the show?

I'm the opposite haha. I love Fantasia, and I don't really care for Fantasmic that much. I do love the theme music, but I don't care about seeing the characters in WDW.
That said, Fantasmic is not really based on Fantasia the movie... they're actually completely different. I'd watch a video of Fantasmic on YouTube to see if you'd be interested. Of course, live shows are always better in person, but that way you can get a feel of what you're going into.

Never saw Fantasia, love Fantasmic. I don't believe they're very closely related at all. Fantasmic features a TON of other Disney movies and the soundtrack is beautiful. You must see it at least once to judge for yourself! lol

We are arriving late on our HS day and originally planned to just chill at the hotel, but decided to go anyway - the main reason being Fantasmic! I consider it a "must see" show. We even did the Fantasmic package and have reservations for 3:50 in the afternoon at Mama Melrose. I'm not thrilled about eating at that time, but I wanted the reserved seating so not to miss it!

Fantasmic is always a must do for us. We generally go 2X each trip. From all I've heard/ read Disneyland's Fantasmic knocks the socks off of WDW's and WDW's isn't as great as it used to be. That being said, I've only seen the present incarnation at WDW so I don't have those other experiences to measure it against. If you haven't seen any versions of it before, I think you will thoroughly enjoy it. The pre-show entertainment on the other hand is horrendous! Just grab a snack on the way in, grin and bear it, the show makes it so worth it. Also, if you have kids make sure they go potty before you get seated. To get a decent seat, you often have to arrive a bit early and that requires the kids to sit a while. May save you having to get back up and fight crowds.

I think everyone should try everything once. No way to know if you'll like something until you try it, right? :)

But if you are trying to plan your vacation and can only stay out late for two night shows, they should be Wishes and Illuminations.

Im going to echo what everyone else here has said. If you haven't seen fantasmic dont miss it. Its an amazing show! I would also echo to get there early (I usually get in line about an hour in advance depending on crowds in the park). I line up before the rope is dropped to go in so I can get a seat. Also, make sure the kids use the bathroom. There are snack stands inside so usually I find a seat and go get snacks afterward.

Even though you disliked the movie, you will definitely enjoy Fantasmic. I think that it doesn't really have much to do with Fantasia anyways. It features a lot of characters including the villains, which is neat! I'd recommend getting there early if you want a decent seat (one that isn't on the extreme sides and up in the "splash zone"). Have fun!
