I cannot locate the answer to this.
A relative is a DVC member. She gifted us her points to a hotel room at her Beach Club Villa.

So when you are gifted or rent points, can you do things like pool hop like a DVC member does?

thanks

As I understand it, no. You get the room and that is it.

We just returned yesterday from Kidani Village and rented our points from the TImeshare Store. I dont know about the pool hop piece but we were able to get the Deluxe Dining Plan (the DVC Version) and the DME. The Timeshare Store coordinated it all through the member that owned the points..had no issues at all during the trip and I will definately rent points from them often...or at least until I buy i nto DVC which is coming sooner than later.

None of those perks are exclusive to DVC. DVC members get access to certain clubs, discounts on APs, pool hopping privileges among other things.

Yea as an owner at Beach Club you can only use your resort pools. No hopping...

Not true. DVC owners can pool hop at many pools. However, they cannot hop at BCV, AKL, and a few others. There are exclusion periods as well. Check your member perks guide. Quoting from my post that the same OP made in the Resort Hotels section,
When staying on your Membership at any Disney Vacation Club Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort or Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, you and any Guests staying with you are permitted to use most of the other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity. If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that resort hotel. Please check with a host or hostess at the front desk of the resort you wish to visit before you go to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your current Key to the World Card with your “DVC Member” designation on it to use the other resort hotel pools.

Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, the leisure pool at Disney’s Beach Club Villas, and the pools at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Due to the high occupancy that is expected, you and any Guests staying with you may not pool hop during the dates listed on
the next page.
In this case, the guest isn't a DVC owner, nor is the owner actually onsite. Since the verbage says "you and any Guests staying with you", then technically someone staying on a reservation that a member made shouldn't be able to pool hop. But if their KTTW says "DVC Member" (haven't ever stayed on someone elses points, just my own so I don't know what it will say) then....

I know that, I meant that since they are not DVC memebers and are renting points they can only use the pools at beach club. But why would you want to go to any other pool!! Lol que the thousand tells of everyone depending their pool! :)

Typically a KTTW card is sufficient for pool hopping. Since you are staying on a members points your KTTW card should say "DVC Member", so you should be OK. Either way, you are entitled to use the Stormalong Bay pool. As stated above you cannot hop to Jambo House, Kidani, Bay Lake Tower and I am guessing Grand Floridian.

The days are numbered for KTTW cards. At some resorts, they may already be gone if Magic Band "testing" transitions directly to daily operations.

I don't think KTTW will ever completely go away, even when the Magic Bands are fully implemented. But it does bring up an interesting point. If you are renting points will the Magic Band still indicate that the renter is a member?

Not fully true. Even when Magic Bands are fully deployed, they should still continue to offer KTTW as an alternative. An RFID KTTW is no different than a RFID Magic Band except that there is no long range chip in the KTTW. There are people who cannot wear bracelets for various reasons, so the KTTW should be an option. The guest would need to request it as the MB would be the primary device issued by WDW.

Agree with you, and I probably should have elaborated more in my post.

What I really meant to say was:

1) Getting a KTTW card rather than a Magic Band for the express purpose of possibly getting into the Top of the World Lounge isn't an approach many people are going to embrace.
2) Disney may not even continue to print the "DVC Member" indicator on the cards. It's come-and-gone in the past.
3) CMs working in the Bay Lake Tower lobby have been known to specifically ask for a DVC member ID card.

It's going to be hit-or-miss for any ineligible person to try and gain access. May work...may not work.

I don't believe you are allowed to Pool Hop according to the rules within DVC in that you are not the owner. However, I would suggest that if you tried Pool Hopping, you would have no problems doing so except at Beach Club/Yacht Club's Storm Along Bay.
