My family and I are going to leave from home a day early and go to KSC and Cocoa Beach before heading to WDW. Does anyone have any recommendations for a nice hotel on the beach? Thanks!
We visit Cocoa Beach every year before starting our Disney vacation. My recommendation is the Quality Suites Cocoa Beach. It is not directly on the beach but it is very close walking distance. The hotel is very clean and all the rooms are suites with a king size bed and a sofa bed. We are a family of 4 and our kids think it's cool to sleep on the pull out bed. Each room has a sink and mini fridge. We have stayed at this hotel the past 4 years and have never had any problems.
Some of the other hotels are older and the rooms are run down. This hotel is only about 5 years old. The last time we stayed there, we visited KSC and it was very easy to get to. If you do a hotel search on www.travelocity.com, they have reviews of all of the hotels. This will help you as well. Hope you have a great trip!
Just remember when finding a hotel in Cocoa Beach an address on A1A does not necessarily mean the hotel is right on the beach. There are a couple blocks between A1A and the beach in many areas up that way. Right now I can't think which ones are beach front; but I think the Doubletree, Hilton, and even the Holiday Inn (near the pier )are.
Thank you all for your help! We've decided to try the Hilton. It is steps from the beach and was rennovated in 2006. We were also able to get a great rate for an ocean view room.:sohappy:
I think that is a good choice. Almost all beachfront hotels in this area were renovated/rebuilt after the hurricanes of 2004 so most should be in good shape. Some of the ones farther South in Melbourne area just reopened last year, too.
Enjoy the space center. I advise taking Route 3 to A1A from the space center and stopping at Cape Canaveral to see the cruise ships and possibly eating at one of the restaurants in that area.
