Okay I need some help ont his ebcause someone told me something and I'm not sure whether to believe them.

They told me the characters at WDW used to be just feee-roaming and didn't get minders/handlers until sometime in the 80's. This person also told me that one high school is permanently banned from Grad Night because one year their students threw Mickey into 20K.

How true is any of this?

I don't know about the high school thing, but the characters were free roaming. You never knew when you would run across one. I rember one trip tweedle de and tweedle dum played statue so well that noone thought they were real. No one got any one on one time with a character. Just imagine a hoard of little kids all trying to get a hold of Mickey at one time. Then imagine that hoard of little kids all trying to find their parents afterward!!! The poor characters were mobbed where ever they went, with no one to run interference.

i definitely remember when characters would just kind of show up and there'd just be a little mob basically, with whatever kid was the most aggressive being the one to get a hug and a picture with the character.

now it is a lot more organized!

The characters have always had caretakers. When the characters transform from the toon world to the human world, their ectoplasm changes. They can only stay here for a short time before returning to toon world. They also lose some of their normal abilities such as the ability to speak. They must be carefully monitored while in the human world.

I remember the characters when they used to roam around the parks..it's a lot more planned out, and organized.

By the way, Woody13, why do you have such a bad reputation?

It still is that way here at Disneyland. Most of the time there is no such thing as a line, unless it's a formal greeting location like Mickey or Minnie's house.

Okay but nobody has answered the other question I have.

Back in the 80's, did some high school's class throw Mickey into 20K on Grad Night? I just can't believe that's true but this person is swearing it is.

AHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Ok reason I'm laughing is my school band has been to disney to march and preform. And well some fo tehir dance moves were not exactly appropiate for little kids. And I agree I've watched them and they arent. lol Well disney saw this got some complaints and my school isnt allowed to perform there anymore. But gradnight is a different story!
