Question About Character Meet & Greets

Me and my girl are planning to see Mickey & Minnie at the Adventurers Outpost in Animal Kingdom. We want both of us to be in the picture with the Mouses since they're a couple like us and it'll be a fun pic to take. Will any of the Disney Handlers/Cast Members take the pics for us if we handed them our camera and or smartphone? And if so, would they charge? How much? In general, can you have a Cast Member take your pics with the Characters at all the Meet & Greets?

Yes, they will take a picture of you both using your phone or camera. There is no charge. The CM's are really great about this and happy to do it.

PhotoPass photographers are present at all meet and greets. They will gladly take a photo with your device for free.

First the photographer will scan your MagicBand and take several pics with their camera; then they will use yours. The pictures will appear in your MDE account; you are under no obligation to purchase them. Search Memory Maker and you will learn the cost of purchasing all the pictures the PhotoPass photographers take; it is cheaper if you purchase MM before you leave for your vacation.

Thanks Mickey81 and Miss Tuvalu!!!! I was thinking about getting Memory Maker but decided against it cause of the cost plus we'd be satisfied just taking the pics with our phones. :) Another thing, when you give them your phone or camera, they're not going to purposely mess up your pics to have you pay for Memory Maker/Photo Pass right? LOL. I'm very sure that 99% of Cast Members are honest but you just never know so just wanted to be sure.

LOL, your pictures will be fine. Review the shot before you leave (if one is especially important to you) and ask for a retake if necessary (if picture is out of focus/alignment...not if you just "don't like" your smile ;))

Don't worry about them messing up with your pictures, they won't, or it will honestly be accidental. We had great pictures taken by CMs, some that looked even better than the ones taken by the photopass photographer! So don't worry.
We didn't have the Memory Maker and don't regret it.

Thanks everybody, really appreciate it. What about video? Will they film the Meet & Greet also? Same rules apply? Here's what I was thinking of doing, for example, with Mickey & Minnie at the Adventurers Outpost, the first time we see them, me and my girl take some pics together with them as a couple & maybe individual pics with the Mouses. Then go back in line, if its a short one, to see them a second time but instead of taking pics, we film the whole experience. I'm a considerate guy who wouldn't want us to keep a line waiting a long time cause we want everything done with them. LOL.

I was even going to do the same thing when we meet Talking Mickey at the Town Square Theater because I MUST film him talking to us as well as taking some pics with him. Talking Mickey will be the highlight for me personally because as a kid, I would talk to him and he never talked back. As I grew older, I knew why but now that the tech is there and after seeing him talk on YouTube, it would be a childhood dream come true for me to "talk" to him. I plan on making it easy for him to follow his "script" so to speak. LOL. Yes, I'm a Big Kid and proud of it but you guys are just like me so Hakuna Matata. LOL. :D So what do you guys think? I'm open to some ideas also if you got any.

They will do their best to help you out, but keep in mind the character handler and Photopass photographer still have their jobs to do. Typically if there is no Photopass (and there are some M&G that don't have them) the handler will take your picture, but they are also keeping the line in order, answering questions, etc so it may be faster and easier to simply ask another guest to take your picture. If Photopass is at the character, and the handler is working the line, Photopass will trade off between their camera and yours. If there is both Photopass and a handler at the character, Photopass will often hand the camera over to the handler while they still use theirs. So just check out the CM situation and be prepared to adapt.

Never purchase the pics here. Have always gotten great shots with our own camera by the Photo Pass photographer and/or the handler.
