Question about CA entrance through the Grand Californian Resort

How early can resort guests enter CA through this entrance? I've read that guests are usually let in around 8:30 a.m. (when the park opens at 9:00 a.m.) at the main gate which allows guests to line up for fastpasses for Frozen where they wait for rope drop. So if you are coming through the CA entrance do you also get in early and if so, are you allowed to walk over to join the fastpass line for Frozen?
