Question about Barber shop on Main Street.

Hi, I was wondering if the barber shop on Main street shave characters (Mickey, goofy, grumpy, etc...) on heads as they cut hair. I think that I have heard that they will spray a character on, but has anyone seen it shaved in?

They do not shave it in, they use colored gel to make a Mickey head. We were there last month and my nephew had his hair cut and they did a blue Mickey head on the back.

The Harmony Barber Shop does not do that much detail. They will perform a simple hair cut, and if you'd like them to they can put colored paste/gel in your hair with or without sprinkles. My wife and daughter never get the sprinkles anymore since it is a nightmare to wash completely out of longer curly hair. But they still get the coloring.

It's really more a quick hair cut than anything else. They do a great job of it, but from when I made a reservation a trip or two back, it sounds like they are expected to turn the chairs over every 15 mins or less. Just enough time for a basic hair cut, mickey head stamped, and pixie dust.

Does anyone know the cost?
From allearsnet:
Cost for a haircut is $19 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. Colored hair gel, $5. Beard and mustache trims are $10. "First Haircuts" is the establishment's specialty. Young Walt Disney World guests who receive their first haircut at the Magic Kingdom barbershop are treated to many delightful surprises, from "pixie dust" and bubbles to Mickey Mouse stickers, and an extra-special "My 1st Haircut" set of Mouse Ears and certificate. The "My 1st Haircut" special is priced at $18.

Does the "1st haircut" have to actually be the first time they are getting a haircut or just the first time getting a haircut there for a youngster?

The colored gel is actually $7.50 now.

How well did the Mickey and the pixie dust stay in over the course of the day? My son is getting his hair cut there, and I made a reservation for 9:30 in the morning. I'm wondering how it'll hold up over the course of the day, especially going on rides.

It should stay in pretty darn well. Had to shower at night to get the pixie dust out my hair (with no color) As long as you aren't going to TL or BB or swimming in the pool that day you should be fine til the end.

Great, thanks! We won't be doing any swimming that day, we'll just riding everything we can at MK, then going to dinner that evening at 1900 Park Fare. I was a little concerned that it would be all crazy or smeared by the evening. Glad to hear it holds well!

The pixie dust stayed in really well. The color, not so much. The color stayed fine as long as you didn't mess with it too much. He rode Space Mountain about 2 hours after that was done and he hit his head on the back of the seat on takeoff and it got smeared.

Actually, it rubs out pretty easily. The pixie dust, not so much. It took forever to get that out of my wife and daughter's hair. As a matter of fact, here is Matthew's "Mickey" after one ride on Space Mountain... He looks like he is the victim of some horrible accident.

Might as well do it at least once. Enjoy as much of the magic as you can.

Just what I was thinking.... ;)
