Question about Annual Pass Renewal

I have a wedding annual pass that expires on December 14th. My question is, when you renew an annual pass, is it automatically activated? When we got our first AP, it wasn't activated until we went to guest services.

The point is, we aren't going back to the World until December 2014. So it would be cool if we could renew our AP but not activate it for a year.

Sorry, I know I'm rambling. Thanks in advance! :)

No. Do not renew. You are better off just buying new APs at a local Disney store or at WDW when you return (and waiting to activate it when you go back in 2014 if you have a local Disney store). If you renew your old passes, they will expire on Dec 14 of 2014 which means you wasted an entire year. If you buy new APs, they are not activated until you pick up your actual APs at guest services at a park or DTD. I would not renew and buy the new passes before prices increase again. Santa usually brings our passes and we hold them several months before activating them.

Well, our 2014 tickets are going to be around $370 and we can get DVC APs for about $460. We're not positive we'll be going back during that following year, so it may or may not be worth it. We haven't decided yet...

Haha! We really haven't talked to them since the wedding, to be honest. I WANT to go back! So bad! But Coda says I can't go this year AND go on the cruise in January. :( The April trip doesn't count, in my opinion. Nothing happened. I laid on the bathroom floor and on the bed for four days.
