Question about airtran seats

I am taking Airtran down in 47 days and since this is my first time using them, my question is because I am a woman of size, how big are there seats?

We have flown airtran twice and will be flying again in 1 week (yeah)! We are fairly average sized people and find the seats to be of average size too, maybe a bit small but comfortable. Our flight is not that long...only coming from NJ so it is not bad at all. :)

Those seats are SMALL. I hate them. We always upgrade to business class cause the seats are ALOT more spacious. Thats me in the pic so I would say the seat is about just right for me:hurl: Love airtran hate the coach seats. I guess if u have a short flight its not bad. Hope this helps:wave:

Have fun at Dis:sohappy::sohappy:

Will you be sitting next to someone you know? The arm rests retract back and will give you more room.

My last trip just last month I somehow got a free upgrade to business (I think I booked rather late, and all they had left was business), so on the way down, it was real nice. Plenty of room and superb service.

But on the return, I took coach. There was an upgrade for $69 to go to business. This may be something for you to look into. Anymore, on flights longer than 3hrs, I want to be in Business or 1st. Really makes a big difference for me.

Call them and ask them what size their seats are. I am sure they will tell you. Maybe sitting near an emergency exit may help. Those seats have more leg room so that may help.:)

I am also a woman of size and they are small. If you have to sit next to somebody make it somebody from your family so you can put the armrest up, then turn slightly sideways in the seat. If you are next to a stranger be prepared to be squished the entire way unless they are very skinny or very understandable. I always take the inside seat so I don't get bopped by people in the aisle. :lookaroun
Bulkhead seats are the best if you can't upgrade to business.

Take my word for it, the seats are smaller than the average seats I have ever flown in and I am average size. We upgraded to business class for an extra 8o bucks a ticket on our way home from Vegas in Feb. We decided to do it after the flight out to Vegas was miserable for the both of us. You deserve leg room and comfort, upgrade!

According to seatguru (a great site) the width of a coach seat on an AirTran 737 is 18". For reference the width on an American Airlines 737 is 17.2" That's pretty tight in the middle seat.

AirTran probably gives a slightly wider seat because they short-change you on the seat-pitch... AirTran's seat pitch is 31". (Though I jsut checked the American 737, and they say 31-32) Compare that to Southwest's 32-33" and Jetblue's 34". (And that's not even mentioning Jetblue's "even more legroom" that gives you 38").

I'm glad I switched my BOS-MCO flight from AirTran to JetBlue for only $15 more...

Funny we're talking about all this for what is often less than 2hrs for some, a little more for others. Step back and look at how long we're willing to STAND in line for a ride!!! When I was just there, I was seeing 120min wait times posted!!!!

True... Though you don't have the option of bailing on your flight halfway through like you do in a crowded queue.

JetBlue has great seats and a TV at everyone. :cool:

When standing in line you can move around and nobody has their elbow wedged into your side so you can't breath. (and I'm not that big)
