Question about 4/3 deal

On the current "stay 4, get 3 free nights" deal, I understand that it also includes a 7 day ticket for the price of 4 days. Is that correct? If so, do you have to book a room and ticket package in order to take advantage of the 4/3 deal on the room? Or can you book a room only under the 4/3 deal and buy your tickets seperately? Or not buy tickets at all, for that matter, in the hypothetical event that one does not intend to do the parks at all?

The reason I ask is that I am a Walmart employee, and I was looking on the Walmartbenefits.com site under the discounts available to Wally World employees, and we can get discounts on WDW tickets. I can get a 7 day pass for $261.65, as opposed to the $278 that it normally would cost. However, this obviously wouldn't be a good deal under the 4/3 promotion if it turned out that the 4/3 deal on the room was only good in conjunction with a room/ticket package. Of course, the trip isn't even planned until April 2010, so there is no guarantee that they will have a similar promotion in place for that time. But if they choose to extend the current offer again to include next April, I wouldn't want to shoot myself in the foot by pre-purchasing the tickets at this discounted rate and then find out that I can't take advantage of the 4/3 deal since I already have tickets. I just thought it might be a good idea to pre-purchase the tickets before August, so that I will not only get them for 18 bucks cheaper than the current price, but I would also avoid any possible price increase on tickets that may take place in August.

No you must book it together in a package Or not buy tickets at all, for that matter, in the hypothetical event that one does not intend to do the parks at all? You must have at least a 1 day base ticket on the package.

Like Pam said, you have to have at least a one day ticket. That's what I ended up doing w/my package because I already had tickets. In the scheme of things, getting your tickets cheaper at Wal-Mart makes sense. But still booking the 4/3 room with a one day ticket on top of that makes sense too. So I have a 7 day hopper from a previous trip, plus a 1 day base ticket that I got in order to book the rooms. It still will save you so much money. :)

I realized, however, that if the same deal is in place then (and who knows, maybe it will be, since they've already extended it twice), getting the tickets through Walmart wouldn't save me much vs getting the tickets with the 4/3 deal. Because, on my Walmart site, it says that I can get a 7 day pass for the price of 4, for $261.65. According to disneyworld.com, a 4 day ticket is $269. So the 8 dollars I would save by getting it through Walmart instead of Disney, wouldn't be worth it if I had to fork out an entire day's admission price just to be able to get the 4/3 deal. Of course, they very well may not have that offer, for when we want to go, and it may be a good idea to get our tickets through Walmart if that is the case.

The true value in the B4G3 promotion is in the hotel room. Three nights out of a seven night trip is 43% off the hotel.
The "free days" on your park ticket isn't really that big of a deal. Each additional day past the 4th is only about $3. So three free days, you're getting a whopping $9 worth of ticket for free.
But "three free days in the parks" sounds so much better in advertisements than "we'll give you $9 toward your park ticket"... :p

And be aware that the current B4G3 promotion, which is good for select dates through 8/15, must be booked within the next couple days...

and since Free Dining starts on 8/16 and runs through October 3, it is extremely unlikely that they would extend the B4G3 promotion to run over those same dates; if they do bring back B4G3 it would most likely be for after October 3.

Well, like I said, we're hoping to go next April (2010). I know that the current offer currently does not go into next April, but I just wanted to understand how it works in case they would happen to offer it for when we go. I wouldn't want to shoot myself in the foot by ordering the tickets now (so as to beat any price increase on tickets that may take place in August), only to find that by doing so, I am now ineligeable for the 4/3 deal (again...IF it is in effect by then).

At that point, you would need to buy a 1 day base. Even if you already have an AP, other tickets, as long as you buy 1 more day of tickets (they don't expire, good for your next trip), you can get the promo (4/3, free dining, etc).

either way, you are very unlikely to know by August whether the 4/3 deal will be in place during April 2010. These deals are not typically announced that far in advance. Watch these boards--someone typically posts here during the days before a park ticket and hotel rate hike.
