QS Dining Plan Question

Hello,
I had heard that there was going to be some new changes to the 2016 QS Dining Plan, specifically:
  1. Kids didn't have to order off the kids menu.
  2. You could substitute your dessert and drink for whatever 2 side items you want (ex. two drinks or two desserts).
  3. You could trade a quick service meal for 3 snack items.
I was just looking at the PDF for this year's QS Dining Plan and I see no mention about substituting meals or side items and it actually says that kids still have to order off of the kids menu and that it is actually being tracked this year (i.e. you must tell the server if you are using adult or kid credits and your credits get deducted accordingly).

Has anyone used the 2016 QS Dining Plan yet that can shed some light on this for me.

Thanks!

For QS meals kids CAN order an adult meal because they don't distinguish adult and Childs credits for QS meals only, and you can swap a desert or drink for another item classified as a snack (not just any item) on the dining plan. It has to be done all in the same transaction though you can't just get snack credits to use later. :)

It all really just depends on the cast member your dealing with at the time. We went almost our whole trip letting our daughter get quick service items off the regular menu with no problem, then we hit the one who would not let her. I have many times traded a drink for dessert or vice versa but then I get the occasional cast member that wont allow it you just never know.

I'm very curious about the trading one quick service meal for three snacks that I had heard about. I would definitely take advantage of that if it was available.

As previous posters have said, kids can order off the adult menu at QS locations, b/c those credits are not differentiated between adult and child. As for your other two questions, it will honestly depend on the CM you get. We have subbed a dessert for a salad and have also subbed a QS credit for 3 snacks in the past. Good luck!

It is available and we have done it before and as recently as last October. It is available at most food locations that sell snacks including Starbuck's. You also can do it at the food booths at food and wine fest. They standardized this in 2015 to be available at most (not all) locations where as before last year it was more sporadic in where they would allow this. :)

When I was on my last day of my last visit. I told the CM that was checking me out at a QS restaurant that I had some credits left over. She told me this very thing and to pack them in your luggage for our trip home.

They don't usually make changes to the plans during the year, I'd expect them to be made when they announce the 2017 Dining Plans.

These changes (were made official) went into effect back mid 2015. I don't think they will include them in the dining plan brochure even in 2017 being they didn't include it for the 2016 brochure. And the QS credits not being distinguished as child and adult has been allowed at most places for years now. The conversion of QS to 3 snacks also happened for a while at some places prior to last year, and the substitutions at QS meals to swap deserts etc used to happen sometimes but was allowed at most(not all still) places also back in 2015. ;)

I always swap my QS for snack as I dont like two full meals a day. I usually get side orders of fruit etc, never had a problem doing this. We only buy the dining plan so we can do a table service everyday without having the take extra money away. The themed restaurants are something we don't really get in the UK so its a huge treat.
