Qeustions about tickets/packages

We are planning another trip to Dinsey next April :) yay I can't wait. But this time we are staying in the Park. I had a couple of questions I was hoping you guys could help me with.

1. If we got the Magic your Way plus dining is that the total days you stay at the resort or the total days of the tickets you get?
2. My son will be having his birthday again while we are down there but this time he's turning 10. Do I have to get him 2 different tickets?
3. If we are unsure if we want the dining and not sure of the # of days at Disney yet can we just book the room and upgrade those once we know for sure?
4. We have AAA short of calling them do they offer packages for rooms for Disney I know they do the tickets.
I'm sure these have been asked before so sorry if they are repeats.
Thanks everyone :)

1) Your Dining Plan credits are based on the number of nights of stay and have nothing to do with your actual park tickets
2) Nope!
3) You can add the Dining Plan after you book as long as it's a room & ticket package
4) I think if you book through AAA you lose the option of the Dining Plan (you have to have a room & ticket package to add it) but I'm not 100% sure on that one. :)

1) I'm assuming you mean how many days of food do you get with the dining plan? You get the plan for each night you are at the resort - so if you are staying for 8 nights, you get 8 - just depends on the dining plan you choose - so if you go with plus dining - you get 8 CS, 8 TS, and 8 Snacks based on the 8 night stay example

2) They base the amount based on the age he is when he arrives. They are not going to charge you adult for a couple days you are there where he is an official adult.

3) You can make changes at any time - I would book the package you want to and make payments on it and if you have to change it, change it later. All you have to do is pay the deposit at booking.

4) yes, they offer them - there is a website where someone will send you a quote.

Just to add a bit to the answer for question 3 and 4....

3. If you are unsure of how many days you are going to be there book the maximum length you think you will do. When it comes down to the wire, it is easier to take off a day or two from a resort reservation then to add them. If you are unsure about ticket days and options book the minimum. You can add day and options onto your ticket as far out as during your trip for the same price.

4. You can book anything through AAA that you can book yourself or with another travel agency including promotions like free dining. The only problem is if you book with AAA, you will need to keep track of these promotions and call them to re-book you. AAA does not do this automatically. Travel agencies like Kingdom Konsultant will keep track of all of this and will automatically re-book you when promotions become available.

I would recommend getting the dining plan, it can potentially save you money on food depending on how long you stay. I will purchase the for every trip we take over 4 days.

"potentially" is the key word here. For many people the dining plan is a money saver, however for many people it is not. My wife and I have found that we fare FAR better booking with just a room discount rather than a package that includes dining, even when it is "free" dining. We are not big eaters, usually just eat a granola bar brought from home for breakfast, then lunch and dinner at the parks and find we spend far less money this way then we would with the dining plan. Look at what the plans offer, think about how you would normally eat and decide if it is best for you. If the plan includes more than what you would normally eat, then it probably is not a money saver for you.

Actually we eat very similar, except for dinner. We usually do table service dinner (sometimes in the park), lunch is quick service in park, and snack for breakfast. My wife shares with my daughter. When Disney offers the free dining plan, I don't see how that is not saving you money? That is money you don't have to spend on food (if your package merits the free dining). I do agree with you need to look at the nights you are staying and how you eat on whether or not to purchase the dining plan though.

Dining Plan, even "free", is not necessarily the best choice depending on how many are in your party, what level of resort you choose to stay at and when you travel.

In my case, I only travel by myself or with my son, we generally stay at Deluxe resorts and I usually get AP discounts on the resort. For us, an AP room-only discount, the Tables in Wonderland discount and the shopping discounts with the AP easily pay for the AP, the TiW card and most, if not all of what we eat.

The "free dining" doesn't save money for me because it isn't really free....what I mean by that is that in order for me to get free dining I could not get the room discount that I get, I would pretty much being paying full rack rate for the room. If I take that cost, including the free dining, and subtract the cost of my room with its discounted rate plus what I spend I food, I have found that the room with "free" dining costs more. Remember though, for many people it does end up being cheaper, but not for everyone. Check what rates you could get without dining (it really helps for me that I am a Florida resident), and figure it out for yourself. Depending on what types of room only discounts and your eating habits it may or may not be a good deal for you.

Thank you all for the info I saved all of my dining receipts from April plus added in what we spent off site just to get an idea and it definitely seems like it will work in our favor. I appreciate all of your input:)
