Puffin´s Roost to host Princess Anna meet and greet

If this is the character from Frozen, it is not in Norway- there are signs up over at DHS that Ralph will be leaving and the Frozen characters will be where Ralph is now.

This. I find it hard to believe Frozen will get a M&G in Norway (at least right off the bat). They usually keep new characters to one park at a time.

My girls are so excited to meet the new princess from Frozen. I think that Norway will be a good theme match. My girls are already adjusting our touring schedule so they can meet her right after after their princess breakfast at Akershus.

It doesnt, yet. But if the movie is a hit it would not surprise me if Maelstrom was rethemed. The growing Princess Pavilion continues with less and less Norway. :banghead:

The movie does not take place in Norway outright, just a fictional Scandinavian kingdom but to Disney thats the same thing I guess. But there really isnt room in there for a meetngreet,....right in the middle of the four store sections? really? How are they going to handle lines yet while people are trying to shop on the left and right sides? They better finally unlock all the other unused entrance and exits.!

This area is already incredibly congested, putting a meet and greet there makes absolutely no sense. They better not mess with ma maelstrom!!!

They are, but thats in the very back and seems to be okay location wise. This is going to be right in the middle of a shop with other shops on each side of it. How is anyone going to be able to walk through anymore, unless they open up the other doors like I already mentioned, which needs to happen anyway. Its the only store where they force you to stay in from point a to point b.

I agree with you neverland, the perfect location would be over there where the viking ship playground was. Themed and done well like they did with Germany and Mexico etc.

Great idea!

I mean, no, the movie doesn't actually take place in Norway, but it's in a country heavily influenced by Norway and Scandinavia in general. Nothing in Snow White's movie says it actually takes place in Germany, but she's got a meet and greet at the pavilion. Same with Aurora and France.
They are there because Snow White is a German story and Disney's Sleeping Beauty is based on the Perrault version. For the most part, the World Showcase Meet and Greets are based on a story's location or point of origin, with Aladdin as you mentioned being because Morocco's the closest substitute at hand for the Middle East.

Frozen's in Norway for a similar reason in that it's part of the Scandinavian region that influenced the film and that another part of the region, Denmark, was the home of the fairy tale that got horribly eviscerated so they could add two princesses to the franchise at once without breaking certain boundaries.

I think that's a little bit of an over-reaction. Why does a meet-and-greet being added to a shop mean that we should kiss Maelstrom goodbye? How does Frozen affect Maelstrom?

Because this is Disney - the same bozos who thought putting Cartoon Fish in Futureworld was a good idea, the same bozos who thought putting the 3C's In Mexico was a good idea ... less toons not more

At least Three Caballeros works thematically with Mexico in that, like El Rio del Tiempo, the third act of the film was a surrealistic travelogue through Mexico.

Nemo was just "Hey, a popular fish movie on a coral reef, let's shove it into the pavilion".

Agreed. For the most part, Gran Fiesta Tour didn't take much away from the existing attraction, and Princess Anna meeting in Norway wouldn't take anything away from the pavilion as it currently stands.

The other princesses in Norway are a much bigger problem (look at what happened to the authentic, inexpensive menus at Akershus - lunch used to be such a good deal), but they're popular so they won't be leaving anytime soon.

Exactly, sadly. I remember when lunch there was $12.95, it was such a great deal and relaxing atmosphere with full on Norwegian ambience. Now.....:depressed:.....im loving these new emoticons lol.

thank you exactly my point^ if they are willing to put a princess meet and greet in this area I wouldn't past them to change the ride in order to boost numbers and make that part of the park busier. If Disney sees the movie succeed which is likely I wouldn't put it past em to shell out maelstrom in favor of the princesses.

If it wasn't for toons there would be no WDW.

You don't go to WDW to get away from toons.

Epcot should be billed as an edutainment facility - focusing on older crowd of guests. If the plebs want Toons they can get the hell out of Epcot as far as I'm concerned.

I think that a small little village or something like Merida's awesome set up should have been put in place where Merida is currently located. She would be moved to Princess hall, and Rapunzel to her bathrooms. Then Anna takes Merida's home in the Magic Kingdom. Then if she was popular (very popular) maybe a mini land could be added to Norway for her and then the original pavilion returned to it's former beauty!

It would surprise me. Tangled was a hit and Disney capitalised on that by building a themed bathroom.

That's not a new thing though is it? Aladdin takes place in a fictional kingdom, how long have characters from that film been available to meet in Morocco?

Turtle Talk with Crush slowly took over the Living Seas.

And remember something called El Rio Del Tiempo?

Still no reason to panic and jump to conclusions. Is there a Mulan attraction in China? Aladdin in Morocco? A Beauty and the Beast or Aristocats attraction in France? A Ratatouille ride is being built at DLP, why not replicate that at Epcot?

I agree with less toons and not more but the film isn't even out yet and all Disney seem to be doing is installing a meet-and-greet where the character and locations of a film correspond with the theming of a particular pavilion, the same as they have done at pretty much every pavilion in World Showcase. I think its a bit of a leap at this point to say "we can kiss Maelstrom goodbye". Tangled was a big hit and yet all we've gotten is a bathroom, Disney don't seem to be overly keen on trying to capitalise on the success of their animated films in the theme parks these days.

This I agree with but its far easier for them to haphazardly shoehorn moneymakers like the Princesses into a pavilion than it is to re-theme a ride.
