PTR and TP?? Why

Question, why do so many people do PTR but never do an actual trip report. I would rather see the TR with pictures, than hear about what you plan to do??? Does anyone else feel that way?

I agree, but;

PTR are much quicker and easier to write than a full TR.

Agreed. I would think that trip reports would also be difficult if you don't take some notes, especially if you're there for more than a few days. As for my own case, I didn't know what at TR was til several months after I got back from my last trip. I fully intend to write a TR after this trip.

I think the PTR's are a good way to get plans laid out..almost like getting them out there and those that read can give input..I love my PTR'S.. I love living vicariously through others plans also. i LOVE TR's..but i typically only read ones that resemble my family. Ones with a few kids, with lots of details and lots of pictures!

I agree that a PTR can serve as a really good planning tool. Yes, it does help serve as a dedicated outlet for some of that pre-trip excitement, but putting all of your plans into report form can help piece together some of the smaller aspects of a really detailed trip plan + the input from other forum members is quite helpful if there are things you're uncertain of or may not have fully thought out when initially making your plans.

Now, as for people doing PTRs but never doing the trip report...that's any number of things. I'm guessing it's probably the time and energy that goes into one...even a smaller one or an all text one takes time to get together.

i did a PTR for my coming trip in Jan and I'm not sure if i'm going to do a TR. I shouldn't have a problem remembering what happened since I'm pretty good with details and my sis and can be good about taking pics that'll be worthwhile. My PTR was more to see if I could get any extra input for the coming trip since this will be my first time really getting to experience all of WDW. I am not too sure if anyone wants to read a TR of a brother and sis in their mid 20s anyways. It'll sorta depend on how the trip went to see how detailed I'll want to make the TR if i type one out at all. There are plenty of reasons TR's don't happen though.
