Proving a Disney Cruise is not just for families?

Really want to take my wife on a Cruise for our 10th anniversary next September. Thinking the 7 day Caribbean so we can snorkel potentially. She keeps thinking its geared twords family mostly. Is there anything i can show her, that shows just the adult areas, and how much privacy you really get? Thinking of getting a private verandah state room so we can watch the sun come up and go down together etc.

I have been on a Disney cruise with just my wife twice; once as part of our honeymoon and once for a 2 year anniversary trip. We actually run into less families on these trips than we do on other cruise lines just for the simple fact that they do so well with the adult only areas. If you do the 7 nights on the fantasy, besides the adult bars/clubs, they have 2 adult only "pool/lounge" areas. Once is the quiet cove pool and the other is on the top deck, called satellite falls. That is probably my favorite place to just relax.

Also, keep in mind that Castaway cay has an adults-only beach, serenity bay, which is great.

See i keep trying to tell her this, that no one does it better than Disney. I feel like other cruise lines would have much less segregated space, and more running around ETC. Both Seem amazing! I just want to get something booked with a downpayment, so we have time to look forward to it, and figure out how to go about getting a passport.

I don't have much in the way of pictures to show you, but Disney cruises are really geared toward people like Disney. It does not matter if you are 6 or pushing 90, if you like Disney, you most likely will enjoy the DCL.

Sure, they are probably better than any other cruise line out there when it comes to kids and families, but it is super easy to avoid kids and stay busy with adult activities. Thee are a number of 21 and up bars, adult only sections of the boat and Castaway Cay, adult only activities, a spa along with adult only restaurants on the ship. The entertainment on board tends to be of the Disney Broadway variety which, again, if you like Disney, you are good to go.

About the only "adult" thing the DCL lacks is a casino.

If you want to go on a great cruise, and you can afford to swing for DCL (since it is quite expensive compared to others), then I say go for it. DCL is my favorite line by far.

The Castaway Cay adult only area was the most beautiful part of the trip for us. Secluded, great music playing, nice bar, tons of wadable water. The adults only sections of the ship are actually quite large as well (and I have heard Disney is the only line that has the adult only sections, though that was heard from a friend from a friend type thing). The spa has great couples things for you to do.

Last thing, there are a lot of adult only activities. For example, last cruise I did mixology and Mohito tasting. The one before did the whiskey tasting. There is a campaign tasting. The adult only bars on the ship are quite fun as well.

It just keeps getting better and better! Its also cheaper for us, than what we were going to spend on a week at wilderness lodge with 5 park days. Anyone ever stay in a verandah room? I think that would be really cool!

It is cool if you intend on using it. If you are really into balconies, try getting room category 05E. They are on the very back of the ship but come with over sized verandas. Below was my morning view at Castaway Cay from this room category on one trip.

But if you don't plan on spending much time out there, may not be worth it.

I could see on days at sea, we would get up early, watch the sun make its presence known, or at least as it got lighter enjoying eachothers company, and sipping coffee.

I'm not sure I've linked this correctly, but this is our trip report from a Halloween on the High Seas cruise. We celebrated an anniversary on this cruise and it was just the two of us. Someone mentioned above the extended verandah. We had one of those rooms and loved it so much, we've booked it again for our cruise in May. These rooms have great views!

As for the kids...yes, they're there, BUT there are numerous areas for adults as well. Not once have we ever felt overrun by kids. We stay away from the family pools. The main dining rooms were about the only place we had extended time with children. No issues.

If you love Disney and want to do something Disney that is not the parks, I highly recommend a Disney cruise. Just one will be all it takes to become hooked.

Trip Report - Adults-only cruise - The first part is a short park stay before the cruise. You may have to scroll through several pages to get to the actual cruise.

That actually swayed us. When I ran the numbers, it was the same cost as staying in a moderate for us for 4 nights when factoring in food/tickets.

Anyways, yes, I have, but with a kid. So, with a couple, I bet it would be great. With a 3rd person, I prefer the oceanview. Reason being when you see the square footage, the verandah space is included in your square footage. With just 2 people, those rooms are big as is, and for like $100 difference, well worth it. Once we started adding people to our room (which means people as well as lots of extra bags, we decided we would rather have the extra living space with the big sit-in window.

I will give it a read! From research, i hear that the service is what we all love and remember the parks like, the more i research it the more i like it! heck i could see sitting on the verandah and reading a book, or having a glass of wine.

Its also what is swaying me!

The cost of a 7 day cruise, would be the same as 7 nights 8 days at WL with 5 park days without a dining plan.

there is so much included, ( and we can bring our own wine on board!) that it really changes the game. Its still about the same distance driving, and i have family in the Lakeland area, that i could probally convince to drop us off at the Port and pick us up when we got back to save on port parking etc. Where this would be a 10th anniversary trip, we would be a couple, and i think my wife would like the verrandah view to sip coffee in the morning, and Wine at night.

Make sure you familiarize yourself with the DCL's alcohol policy. It got a little tighter a few years ago.

The key to it is at each port. So you can pick up more at ports if needed (probably not as big a deal with wine drinkers as it is with beer drinkers). We actually didn't even end up using our 2 bottles as we found ourselves going out most nights to the club areas for fun anyways, but we probably would have on a 7 nighter.

the question, is it 2 per person? Like we could each take 2 of our favorite? That would cut down on the cost of drinks on board. For us, i could see us having something with lunch, but i could also see us going out on the verandah for a glass before bed.
