Pros, Cons, and Experiences Going in March

Hi all!

DH and I are looking to travel to WDW next in mid March 2017. Tell us your experiences visiting in March including pros and cons please! Weather, crowds, events, promotions, comfortability, etc.

We have been in May twice for the Flower and Garden Festival and we know this is in March too. In 2017, Easter is not until 4/16 so if all our travel dates fall within March, we will (hopefully???) miss all Holiday crowds. We have our sights set on staying either on the monorail line or in the Boardwalk area.

Thanks so much! We look forward to learning more.

The first week of March can also be cold. We have been a couple times from beginning of the month to mid-month and it was always too cool to swim (for us anyways).

Lots of colleges have spring break in March (think of spring break as a "season" rather than as a particular week) and the parks will be busier than they are in May...not summer busy, not Easter busy, but busy nonetheless.

Room rates are higher in March than in May. There will probably be some sort of discount since Easter (which usually is not discounted) will be in April.

I would always choose May over March
And having been in May and knowing what it's like, this holds a lot of weight. Thanks so much-great to know.

Me too personally...the first 2 weeks of May are a great time to go! We always either go then or middle of Nov, but next year we r gonna try beginning of October.

When we've been in May, it's been like 4/30-5/8 or in that area so I know exactly what you mean. The only reason we decided to choose a new time was because we wanted to avoid the school groups and also we were planning our wedding and wanted to get married in the Fall and honeymoon to WDW after so that's how we ended up with the Fall. We went beginning of October last year and had a great time-not too crowded and great weather. Pre FP+, we only got 2 Fastpasses the whole time-that's how manageable it was. Have fun! Thanks so much for your opinion.

Hey friend!!

If you can swing May over March, definitely do that. My in-laws go every March, and we used to go with them to stay at their off site time share. We stopped, and started going on our own in May. I couldn't handle Spring Break crowds. Granted, we went "family reunion" style and always had 15 people together. So that made it more difficult. But early May quickly became our favorite time to visit. :)

Hi friend! Thanks so much for this. I think we will plan for May instead. I completely forgot about spring break crowds. I'd rather deal with the few school group and organizations in May. It's also much warmer which we want.

I see in your signature you're expecting again!! Congratulations!

Easter is April 5 in 2015 so if you go later in March, you'll be more affected by Easter crowds. If March is your month to go, then go earlier in the month.

For warm weather, definitely May. In March we've had some great weeks, but we've also had weeks where we were in jeans & hoodies too. May it's always been nice & warm.

Yep, I'm due in February with a little boy! Time is flying. We are moving our May trip to early October for that reason. I'll have to chat with you about that time of year, I've never been. :)
