Proposals

Okay, ladies (and gents, if you like). With all these people talking about getting engaged in WDW, here's an interesting question:
What would be your ideal setting in WDW for a proposal?

Personally, I like off-the-wall stuff. So I would want him to somehow arrange to sit next to the telephone in the Comedy Warehouse, so he can pick it up, answer some of the questions, and at some random point during the conversation, ask me to marry him.

I said I like off the wall stuff...:D

how about taking a 'plunge' during the little drop at pirates of the caribbean.

i've seen someone get married on splash before. :)

I personally love the little storybook garden place where belle tells stories, by the castle. very pretty. off the wall stuff is great too, I agree.

I've posted this before somewhere, but on our last trip in May when we were coming off the elevators where the pictures are displayed at the TOT, one of the pictures after ours was a guy proposing. He and his girlfriend were in the front row and the people behind them held up a sign that said "Amy will you marry me?" so she would see it in the pictures after the ride. We waited a little while for them to come off (since I'm so nosey  ) but we never saw them. It could have been old and they were just reshowing it, but I thought it was a pretty unique proposal.

My ideal setting though was my actual proposal at WDW. Fireworks, my boy on one knee, people clapping and the beautiful castle in front of us. Magical. :)

I'm not one who typically likes attention in public, but I would love to be proposed to during a fireworks show at WDW. Preferably Wishes, but IllumiNations sounds good, too.

I would have loved to have proposed to my wife in WDW, but she was not a big fan of the place (I've since persuaded her) at the time.

There are so many great places that I couldn't possibly list them all (most anywhere in France, the walkway along the river between EPCOT and the Beach Club Resort, in front of the Magic Kingdom's Castle, ...too many to list).

Hmmm...Maybe if we ever renew our vows???

I've posted this somewhere before, but I saw someone get asked to renew their vows at Chef Mickey's in front of their kids. The amazing part was that the managers were actually able to get Mickey and Minnie TOGETHER behind the wife for the vow renewal! The entire section of Chef Mickey's was cheering after it.

I would take any and all of these circumstances, romantic or crazy. I will cry if my proposal is NOT at my favorite place in the world!! I LOVE TOT and I think that the picture is such a wonderful, crazy idea! But, romantic and quiet (like the person in a previous thread today/yesterday mentioned).

BTW....4 days for me! My boyfriend and I still have one more final each and then we're off!

Well, here goes my story. My wife to be, her daughter and my three daughters were vacationing at WDW. I scheduled a dinner at California Grill and I let the kids in on what the plan was. At California Grill, they can put a huge sheet of paper on the table that everyone can draw on and of course they have plenty of crayons. We often have a drawing contest. My wife is an artist and likes to join in on the fun. This time we agreed to let our waiter be the judge of who won the drawing contest. My soon to be fiancee had no idea what was going on and began drawing like a vengence. I did my usual rendition of Fred Flintstone (guaranteed not to win!) but each of the girls did a drawing that could be quickly changed to be more "appropriate" for the occasion. When the waiter judged my sweetie the winner, he pulled a small package out and gave it to her as the prize for winning the drawing contest. She instantly recognized the wrapping paper as coming from her favorite shop that sells small enamal boxes which she collects (Halcyon Days). She sort of knew that something was up but didn't notice me slip out of my chair and onto one knee as she opened the box and read the inscription inside which said (of course) "will you marry me?" I pulled a ring out of my pocket and the kids made the final changes to their drawings. What looked like a birthday cake suddenly had a bride and groom on top. The building that looked like a school now had a steeple, etc. Lucky for me and our daughters she said "yes." We still have the sheet of paper with the drawings, and of course the prize box is a treasured part of her collection....and every time we go back to California Grill, we all look at that table and smile. Good luck with your plans, whatever they are.

I have a picture of both my fiance and I after we just got engaged with both Mickey and Minnie together...:D

As a single 19 year old guy I am obviously not quite at that time of my life to be getting married yet...nor will I probably ever be the one being proposed to. However, a girl could steal my heart with a ring waiting for me after a lap on Space Mountain.

Or...another great way would be to get a Mission: Space capsule to ourselves, and then allow the ring to float over to me during that split second of weightlessness. How cool would that be?

I also liked the ToT idea mentioned above.

However, I still dream of just meeting a girl down in The World to share a night or two with that shares my obsession.

Andrew and I were engaged at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in 2002. We were on the College Program and he worked in Fantasyland.

On Dec. 8, it was our two-year anniversary. We went to the party and I suspected something all night. At midnight, we watched the end-of-the-night castle stage show from the wishing well beside the castle (not a very good view, but a very romantic location).

Then, Andrew said he'd be right back and said please wait there. Then his buddy Steven who was working in Fantasyland came down to the wishing well and told me to follow him. Steven led me up to the back of the castle where Cinderella's coach AND ANDREW were waiting there. Then we proposed right there and Stephen, of course, had a camara waiting! :)

What a romantic! :)

I did the whole "I have a work convention" thing and then surprised her with the proposal which was caught on tape and I was wirelessly microphoned....then her parents popped out of no where as did mine...that was surprise #2 and then I told her the week we were there wasnt for work but for play....

My Girlfriend and I had never been to Disney so for our 3 year anniversary we decided we were going to Disney. I knew that this was the perfect time to propose. However because neither one of us had ever been ther it was hard to figure out where to do it until I got there. I thought that I would do it in front of the Castle during the Fireworks, because I had heard that they were not only beautiful but also very romantic. Some one lied about that Romantic part. The actual fireworks are, but the surrounding are far from it. There are hundreds of people and crying kids all over the place. So I was not sure what to do. I carried the ring around for our entire trip and finally on our last day we wanted to go back to the rides that we really liked and loved. We both decieded that Rocking Rollercoaster was our favorite ride, so I knew that I had to do it then. I waited until after we got of the ride (which was the last ride of the night on the rockin' rollercoaster) and told my sweet that I needed to rest for a moment before we ran back to the hotel. We sat infront of the Huge Guitar and there was a family just down the curb from us and that was really it. I then started to say all the right things and got down on one knee and asked her if she would be my minnie for the rest of my life.

Well we are married now and we are happier then ever. We have been back to Disney several times since then.

Here's how I did it....My wife (girlfriend at the time) always believed that Cinderella's Castle was THE representation of Walt Disney, so I thought what better place to propose to her?? SO...I bought the ring about two weeks before we were to go to WDW...we ALWAYS plan out our trips ahead of time, (iteneraries, etc), and we did this trip as well...well we weren't scheduled to go to the Magic Kingdom until day three of that trip....SO....I had to keep the ring hidden in the room safe for two days...THEN, I walked around the Magic Kingdom ALL DAY with it in my front pocket!!! Well at about 5:30 in the afternoon, we had done everything we wanted to do and were sitting on a bench in Adventureland (exhausted), when I said to her..."Can we walk back over to the castle???"...she said what for??? (I could tell she was tired)...I told her that I needed to get a couple of pictures of the castle....she rolled her eyes but said okay...we walked back over to the castle and after snapping a couple of still images, I approached a very nice looking older couple and told the woman that my girlfriend has NO clue that I'm about to propose to her, and would she mind videotaping it for me?? She agreed, so I walked back over to my girlfriend, got down on one knee and proposed!!! Thank GOODNESS she said yes, because we had by then attracted a small crowd....well, when she said YES, everyone applauded for us!!!

I WAS going to try and hire Mickey Mouse to present the ring to her in some kind of surprising fashion, but you wouldn't believe how much money they wanted just to rent him for a few minutes!!! Well, THAT plan got shot down....

Anyways it was VERY romantic (to us anyways), and we have it on videotape to enjoy over and over!!!

That's how I did it anyways..... :D

Well, I've thought about being proposed at WDW or DL as a kid/teenager/adult. Though I am married, my DH did not propose to me at any Disney Theme Park. In fact, he did it at San Fransisco. It was still beautiful.

Though, I've thought of some romantic spots of being proposed. My DH would probably propose to me either before the drop at POTC (at DL), or he would propse to me around Cinderella's Castle. He would pick the quietest and the most least place to draw attention. Though, he might propose to me at Epcot in one of the countries, probably at night.

The good news is that DH and I went on our HM at WDW.

How long ago was that? When I started working there, they were starting to tell people that Mickey couldn't hold the ring for liability reasons.
