Proof of Residency issues...

I was invited somewhat last minute to go to Disney World with some friends next week, and I am hoping to buy residents tickets. However, I'm not sure if I will be able to prove my residency.

I moved to Florida a few months ago, but I am living with family friends (I am only 22) and I pay rent directly to them, but my name is not on any official bills. I have a driver's license from out of state, but since I do not drive here (I don't have my own car and I work with one of the people I live with so there has never been a need) I haven't gotten a FL license (and don't really plan to in the near future because, as I said, I don't need one with my current situation). The only things I have are pay stubs and basic mail, but I'm not sure if any of that would work.

Just trying to figure out if I will be able to buy the cheaper tickets or not. Any information would be wonderful :)

From what it says online, you'll need to have a state issued ID.

Well there you have it.

to get any type of florida id you need proof of lease/rent/mortgage, social security card, birth certificate, piece of mail, and your old license. its a hassle to get done. We did it last year when we moved here. We had to have a notarized copy of our lease. They also want the mail to be a bill proving residency. Not just a letter from someone. Try and make an appointment before you go. otherwise Thursday mornings are the best days.

They are sticklers when issuing id's here since 9/11. evidently they used to be really lax but several of the id's that were used at the airport were issued in Florida so they are really cracking down.

Right now our adult son lives with us. He is 23. He ran into issues with his. We pay the bills not him. I had to sign papers that he lived with us and proved it by showing he is on my car insurance( this took the place of the mail) . I also had my landlord make a lease with him on it. Make sure you bring as much documentation as possible or you may have wasted many hours sitting there.

They do issue the id/ license right there so you would have it right away. FYI we are brevard county not sure if it makes a difference since the rules are state wide.

I remember the DMV in Volusia County where I lived was ALWAYS busy! Like, ALWAYS. Never understood it. Up here, I've been to the DMV several times and always been in and out with only a few people there....

I remember having a hell of a time getting Florida ID because I didn't have a lease, mortgage or proof of income. You would think they had never heard of people owning homes and not making monthly payments. But I eventually got it done.

There is a website called Gather, Go, Get that will assist you with the necessary paperwork. Frankly, it is much better than people, because people are sometimes unhelpful due to stupidity.

Florida Resident Tickets:
Proof of a Florida residential address is required. For each adult ticket purchased, you may provide any of the following:

Valid Florida driver's license
Valid Florida state-issued ID card (must have a Florida address)
Valid Florida-based military ID

The persons who will use the Florida Resident adult tickets must be present at the time of ticket pick up. If you do not have one of the IDs indicated above, then for each adult ticket purchased you must provide one of the following dated within the last two months and evidencing a Florida residential address together with a corresponding picture ID (passport, driver's license, state identification card):

Monthly mortgage statement
Florida vehicle registration or title
Homeowner's insurance policy or bill
Automobile insurance policy or bill
Utility bill
Mail from a financial institution, including checking, savings, or investment account statement
Mail from a Federal, State, County or City government agency
Bills can be no more than two (2) months old. PO Boxes are not accepted as proof of residency. Current bills printed from electronic versions are acceptable, though photocopies and fax copies are not.

They can be tough!! when I went to get one, I was told at the front gate cm that I had to have a FL state issued Id and proof of residency w/ a bill or bank account statement in my name that I received at that address. I had a FL I'd, but I didn't have mail, so I didn't get the FL discount.

It didn't say that I needed a bill on the website. I should have asked for a manager:(

anywhoo....try brining your mail and pay stubs:) Perhaps a bank account or a cell phone bill? Good luck to you !
