26 September 2002: Project Gemini Update
http://www.wdwmagic.com/general_epcot_news.htm

Project Gemini now has the backing of Michael Eisner and Paul Pressler, and budgets have been assigned, they are healthy. The concept of the project is a mass rebranding of Epcot, to inject the excitement back that the park once had. The much rumored splitting of the park into 2 separate gates appears to be unlikely at this stage. The grand reopening of the park is set to be December 2006, however parts of the new project will open before that time.

Two signature attractions for the new Epcot are a Soarin' Over attraction from DCA, and another ETicket attraction called "Time Racers".

Drat...I hope the Screamin and Fun Fair Rumours are false!! Pressler and Eisner may not be in the company in a year...if everything seems to be headed in the wrong direction, hopefully it can be stopped.. :( Time Racers...sounds...intriguing. Maybe it'll reuse the Timekeeper AAs! Dream on, Ursus!

I like the sounds of the new rumors coming out of WDW. Lets just hope that we get some Disney verified news soon and let the land clearing begin.

I'm glad they're not going with splitting up Epcot. That wasn't a good idea from the start. The two new attractions plus the new SPain pavillion will give Epcot a major boost!

I picture another "high speed" Test Track type of attraction/Spidey attraction...that uses "senses" more than actual speed.

I picture different eras in time (which would fit in with Spaceship Earth) but I'm sure.. "something will go wrong". It sounds like something that would go in next to JII or a replacement for WoL.

I'm happy, but I can't help thinking about the other stuff in Epcot. New rides are all nice and good, but they better have stuff like updating the Livng Seas and the Health pavilion on the horizion.

As for Time Racers, sounds interesting, but I have to ask myself: Is this California Scream'in? Not saying it is, but that'd be one way to theme such an attraction to make it fit in Epcot. Then again, it may be an all new ride.

For some reason, the "time Racers" idea reminds me of a certain carnival themed dino ride....

Hooray! I almost had a heart attack when I read the first post; unfortunately, I realized there aren't any press annoucements backing up the news, but ANY NEWS is better than no news .

Well, whatever it is thats coming up better be worth it cause Disney's REALLY got my attention (and wallet) ready and waiting...:sohappy:

they are using it, so they wouldn't do anything with it. Come on convention money in their $y$s.

I so hope all of this true!! Nice to actually hear some new rumors coming out of Disney, even if not true. Have something to hang onto for a while.
