Professional photos

Hey all! I've seen some posts in the past of some great family photos taken professionally around different locations in the world. Not photo pass photos. I'm thinking it might be nice to get some photos done when we go down in September. Anyone know the cost of this? Any recommendations on this service?

Big shout-out for the extended portrait shoot! Loved it and felt it was well-worth the money. Don't know if it's been added to their website yet but with the $350 sitting that can be done virtually anywhere on Disney property you can order a cd w/copywrite release, will produce prints up to 8x12, and has all your edited/retouched photos for an additional $50. Anything bigger or mounted can be ordered from Disney's Fine Arts Photography. Word of warning, when you do the long-shoot that includes the editing/retouching it takes a little while before the images are ready. Our shoot was in mid-September and our portrait link didn't come until around Thanksgiving time, I think. Our cd & proof book didn't come until a week or so later. People who have a specific date they need the images for need to make sure the lead time works for them.

Before the resort Photopass sessions transitioned to the Fine Arts Photography you *could* book private photo shoots like for senior pictures or family portraits through Disney's Professional Photographic Services but it was something that wasn't really advertised or talked about. I had to go digging to find them and request the info over the phone. We did family portraits in December 2007 in the Magic Kingdom that way. I think the new setup is fantastic and all the portraits I've seen from either session now offered have been great. I love how accessible they've made the information. It's much easier to find now!

Here's some links to the portion of my trip report that discusses our experience and you can see how ours turned out:

I know it's a lot and I was totally impressed with how many could be taken in just an hour!

If you have any other questions, ask away!

Here's some trivia for you! When you follow Richard's link, the section that shows the "Enhanced" session info has 3 photos on display. The top right photo is a member here and her family! :animwink:

Thanks for your responses:) the pictures are beautiful! Do you have any recommendations for photo locations? We are looking for some fun shots as we are young (24/25) and some more romantic shots. Dbf who has never been has been talking about this daily and is very excited :) I'm looking forward to it as well, is it to early to make an appointment for sept?

I'm really not sure how far out you can do the appointments. Seems like I was within 180 days when I made mine. I'd call and let them tell you if it's too soon or not.

As for locations that might be fun, I dunno. Are you wanting to the the longer, in-park session or the shorter, resort one? In-park I would say MK or maybe DHS. I would see how early they could do it. That way you don't get other people in the background so much. Epcot is pretty romantic and, I think, could be fun, too. Like y'all posing with the viking statue at Norway or something. It's what you bring to it, ya know? Bring some Mickey ears! Bring things that might make good props. I wish I had brought our ears and a balloon. :D

I'm thinking the longer session, as the shorter one has to be at one of three resorts, in park photos would have more memories to us I feel as we will be spending time there and not at any of the resorts if that makes any sense! Will definitely have ears! Also love the photos with balloons that are shown on the website. Just sent them off an email :)

These pics are AMAZING! You must be the most photogenic family on the planet. :)

I'm going to book a session for our honeymoon in August. I bought an off-white lacy tunic at AE yesterday. Which leaves me lots of time between now and then to find alternates... ;)

Has anyone had their pics done at the Studios? I'm curious as to what sorts of backgrounds we could have.

Were you complimenting my family??? I'm a bit thrown by the photogenic part! Seriously, I'm probably the most un-photogenic person I know. Honestly, that's a testament to the fab job the photographer did. :D We've sorta learned from Photopass pictures that our best bet is to make each other laugh because laughter produces the best smiles. Or make a silly face at the camera. That's the other option.

If you look on the website at the sample pictures they used to have some in there from the Studios. I can imagine lots of cool backdrops in that park, too. Like the Muppets fountain, Streets of America, Pixar Place, near 50s Prime, Sunset and near ToT, etc. There's tons when you think about it. Maybe in another 3 or 4 years we'll do it again.
