Problem with Park Merchandise

I bought a hoodie in the Villians store at the Studios for my daughter's boyfriend as a Christmas gift this past Friday. Went to wrap it this morning. and found that the security plastic thingy is still on it!! I live in PA - it's not like I can drive right over and get them to remove it. Has this every happened to anyone else? What did you do about it? I don't have the receipt, either. I double checked them all against my Visa statement online, and paid everything off when I got home.

Advice, anyone?

One option is to call guest relations and tell them what happened. They should be able to tell you what to do (whether that involves you shipping it back to them and them sending you a new one or something else).

The other option is to go to a local store, explain to them what happened and see if they will help remove it.

That said, your best bet is to call guest relations. Here's the number: 407-824-4321

If there is no ink involved try using a pair of plyers. If you don't want to do that try taking it to a TDS we do that for people all thetime that bring stuff home from WDW.

I had the same thing happen to me last year. Still haven't remembered to bring it back over the past 2 trips.:hammer:

In any event, the Disney Store was no help for me.

Without a receipt, no store should remove it for you. The whole point of the security tag is to prevent people from stealing merchandise. Without a receipt, how can they tell you didn't steal it?

I'm not suggesting you did, but regardless - you should always keep receipts until the product has been used or its warranty expires, whichever applies.

If it is not an ink tag there area variety of ways to remove the tag. A quick search on Youtube will reveal several how to videos. If it is an ink tag you are kind of screwed. Your best bet for an ink tag is to find a store that uses the same style tag, tell them your story, shed a tear or two and hope they will help you out.

I called Guest Relations. CM I talked with said I can send it back to WDW, they will remove the tag and refund my shipping, then send it back to me. I do have to provide proof of purchase, but she said a copy of my credit card statement would be sufficient. I normally do keep receipts until after the holidays, but I knew I wouldn't be going back down to exchange anything, and quite frankly, I never expected to find one of those tags on anything. I would have thought it would have set off some kind of an alarm somewhere as we were in and out of at least a dozen shops after I bought that shirt. Fortunately, Chris isn't returning to Ireland anytime soon, so I'll go ahead and wrap it so we can have Christmas tonight, then send it back on Friday.

I had that happen to a sweater I bought, and I called around and found the customer service desk at JCPenney had the tool to remove it for me. I did have a receipt, but they never asked to see it. Give a few department strores a call, and I'm sure you'll find someone to help you.

Merry Christmas! :xmas:

I had the same thing happen. I bought a hat from the villains store & didn't notice the ink tag until I got home. I just used a dremel tool to cut it off and was careful not to break the ink vile.

I've had that happen to me (different store; the original location was an outlet mall) and I simply took it to the mall and explained the situation. I think the third try had the right type of remover and removed it for me.

It's generally pretty OBVIOUS when something is not the store's merchandise. So for those of you saying a store won't do it, um, yes they will. Especially something that has a "Walt Disney World Resorts" tag inside.

If you have a Disney Store near you, perhaps you could take it there and see if they could remove it...:xmas:
Disney store doesn't typically ink tag its merchandise, so it's unlikely that it would have the right way of removing it.

By the way, the loss-prevention tags that WDW uses are all ink-loaded. Don't try to remove it yourself.
