Prizes Announced

Well since I've had nothing to do I have been filling out postcards to mail once a week and I started thinking....since these are getting mailed to Illinois, how will they be "choosen" to win prizes? I can only assume the really big prizes will go to in park patrons, but who knows. Anyway, I know I'll end up loosing a few bucks mailing in postcards but why not. I'd rather waste the money on this then buying say a cd that costs $20 which I'll listen to once.

If your eyes can handle the strain, there's a whole section on how the prizes will be awarded.

The rules state that some prizes are park-specific and will be awarded to a guest who is present at the time of the drawing. That would be stuff like the Fastpasses and one-night stays in the castle, etc.

You've still got a shot at the bigger prizes -- the Adventures by Disney vacations, the cruises, the WDW and DL trips -- with your mail-in entries.

I know I already licked the Vacation Club prize, but I'm gonna lick that Italy one, too, just in case. :slurp: :D

Anyone else find it curious that while Magic Kingdom, MGM & Animal Kingdom were awarded 95,970 Dream Fastpasses, Epcot was only awarded 57,125?

Well it's comes down to simple math... oh wait, why did i bring up math again?? Anyways it's because Epcot doesn't have as many fastpass machines as the other parks do.

I have a question.... If the big prizes are won by mailing in postcards from home...how does that get people into the parks? Just as a marketer myself, I'm kinda baffled by this campaign. Is the point to get people to visit the parks or stay home and win a free prize?

Well, gotta finish filling out these postcards..hey, I said I didn't understand this, not that I wasn't all for it!!! LOL!!!

Really? Because Epcot has 6 FP attractions while MGM only has 5. I find it odd to believe that the other 3 parks have the same exact number of machines while Epcot has 38,845 worth of dreams less.

:sohappy: Quick Math in my head is that about 250 prizes will be awarded every day in any of the Six parks and more prizes on event days such as in Oct for MNSSHP . You will see people walking by as well as standing on lines. I think we should start another tread of Prizes they could of had ... Such as ... Dream of getting to go on a Ride with Mickey Mouse on a ride like Dumbo.. that would have been cool for any kid. Also Disney has answered any doubt of if Star Wars Weekends will continue ..its a Prize

I don't think the Living with the Land Fastpass will be lasting much longer to be honest. HISTA and Malestrom are pretty much short waits in the standby queue, whereas there's still a bit of a demand for Mission: Space, Soarin', and Test Track. Result: 3-2

Tower of Terror, Rock N Roller Coaster, Star Tours, and Lights, Motors, Action have heavy usage with Fastpass. Voyage and Indiana Jones, as shows, don't see much of a demand. Result: 4-2.

I'm just back from Disney World and I saw a prize giveaway at the Main Street Bakery. It was a huge tollhouse cookie. About the size of a small pizza. The people just behind me in line got it.  Just my luck!! The guy ringing them up explained that every 30 minutes they will give one away to someone buying something at the bakery. I wonder what the other unlisted prizes are going to be?

I'm sure there will be a sticky thread here covering that. :)

I heard they're going to do something similar at the turkey leg stand. Ostrich legs anyone? :slurp:

And, you misrepresented the equation I put in my post. It wasn't [40 x 5 + 100 / 3] = ??, but [40 x 5 + 100 / 3 = ?]. With the = ? inside the square brackets, it was correctly presented to equate to 100.
With the right bracket in either position, the result is not 100, but 233.333 (or 233 + 1/3) as previously stated. Addition has the lowest precedence of the three operations shown, so it would be performed last:

40 x 5 + 100 / 3 = (40 x 5) + (100 / 3)

If you wanted to override the normal rules of precedence so that the result would be 100, you would need to write:

(40 x 5 + 100 )/ 3

That said, this only applies to this as a written algebraic expression...if you were given a question like this over the phone, I'd hope they would give one in which the rules of precedence don't matter, otherwise, let the lawsuits begin!

(Sorry to continue the thread drift...)

Did I read the fastpass right? Each winner gets to pick the time they will use their one fast pass for each FP attraction in that particular park? So how is that any better than just riding in the single rider line and hooking up with your group afterwards? For example if my 10 yr old won in MGM she would not go on ToT or RnR w/o her dad or myself (she'd drop her sister in a heartbeat lol). Am I confused?
