Private dining on balcony at Grand Floridian

I did a few quick searches, and did not see a thread about this, apologies if there is one already.

I stumbled across this while googling info about the Grand Floridian for our upcoming first stay there for our 10 year anniversary in September '17. The centerpiece of the trip was to be V&A's chef's table (assuming we can get that ADR) so we decided to go "all in" on GF restaurants, concierge level, the full experience. (Plus we'll avoid bouncing around to different resorts, etc., just get ready in the room and walk over to dinner - yay!)

I just booked (which means there is no 180 day restriction on booking) what they call "intimate dining" on the 3rd floor balcony of the GF. (5th floor indoors if the weather is bad.) I spoke with the woman from that department in order to book, did not see anything about it on WDW site.

I presume this is not a brand new thing, because the prices listed on the article I read about it are already outdated LOL.

The cost is $125 per person, plus $100 for a butler. They show you a menu the night of, so you can choose your app, entree, dessert.

There is no dress code.

We booked a tentative time, but it can be changed, especially after the fireworks schedule is released for that date.

No deposit or even credit card was required to book.

I thought others might like to know about this - especially without any booking restriction - to plan ahead for a special event!

Thanks for sharing. Just when I think I know of everything offered at WDW... sounds like a great way to spend an evening.

I am pretty sure back then the food served on the balcony was coming from Citrico's kitchen (which I think was Flagler's back then). So when we got there we had a menu made just for us with several choices (appetizer choice, entree choice, dessert choice) The table was beautifully set up with rose petals all over and candles. I do not remember if drinks were included, I know we had wine (lots). We had a great server who let us be and didn't hover. They also gave us a nice decorated platter of chocolate covered strawberries at the end and a glass of champagne !

OK a little more info for those of you not following my pre-TR:

Email received from Pat at GF re: the private dinner:

"Good Day Mr. C!

It was a pleasure to speak with about our Intimate Dining Experience.

I have September 7, 2017 tentatively held for you and Brian.

I just need a credit card in order to continue holding that evening for you.

If you would like to reserve this evening, please give me a call at 407-xxx-xxxx.

For your reference I am attaching our current menu and some additional

Information regarding our two dining locations for this event. Please

See below……………..

This event is 2 hours long and is available for 2 to 4 guests. The cost is $125
per person plus a $100 charge for the Private Server.

The Intimate Dining menu is 5-courses, and includes a chef’s tasting (amuse
bouche) and dessert. Your menu items are selected the night of your dinner.
However, if you would like to start your evening with a toast, wine or cocktail,
please preorder that, otherwise you are welcome to order drinks throughout
your evening.

We offer two locations. Our 3rd floor outdoor balcony, which is the most
requested, overlooks our courtyard, the Seven Seas Lagoon and has limited
viewing of the fireworks. There are no Magic Kingdom views from this location.

If the weather is poor we will move you to our 5th floor indoor balcony.

This location offers a full view of the fireworks and Magic Kingdom castle,

and since it is indoors you are welcome to dance while enjoying our orchestra

and pianist.

Thank you so much and have a grand day!!!!"

So I just called Pat back, confirmed with cc, and also confirmed alcoholic drinks are not included (not really a surprise there, although this will likely turn out to be almost as expensive as V&A now LOL.)

And, contrary to popular preference, I chose the 5th floor indoor balcony. We are Floridians, and eating outside is no big deal, and we mostly only do it when we have company from out of town. Down here, even if it's not hot, the mosquitoes find me. But since our date is in early September, it's likely to be hot. Hence, the 5th floor indoor balcony, air-conditioned, no concern as to rain (other than a hurricane) with full view of MK and the fireworks as well as an accompanying orchestra sounds preferable to me.

:)
