Hi! I'm redecorating my bedroom. I want the theme of the room to be "pretty princess". The color for my walls will be a pink. Well, ok, the pain looks JUST like pepto bismol! hehe Does anyone have some ideas for the decorations? My room is pretty small & I have a ceiling fan. Thanks!

Since you are going to Disney soon, you can buy tons of stuff!

Go to the ImageWorks at the Imagination Pavillion, and there is one of those pictures in which you can be that is called "The Disney Princesses". They can make it into a poster I think, different sizes of pictures to frame and also a mouse pad. They are very cool and you will be among all the Disney Princesses.

That´s all I can think of now... I used to have a fairy wand or whatever it is called on my mirror while I was in Orlando :animwink:

if you don't want you walls to be the Peptol color, go and get a can of white paint, and simply mix it in. it will calm down the color a bit. and that way, you can customize it to the exact color you want. but make sure, if you are using morethan one can of pink paint, to get both cans the same color!

I watch WAY too much trading spaces.....

I agree with maria on this one too. :)

and use light blue in the room, the two colors really do compliment each other really well. and that way you are not stuck to just one color. use the blue to accent.

and if I think of anythingelse I will letyou know. :)

Be careful trying to add white to the pink. Chances are you will never get it mixed thouroughly enough! You can try, but it's a lot more difficult than it looks.

I'm pretty sick of painting myself (the house we are living in was a fixer upper and we literally tore the entire place up except for one room- and when I say tore it up- I am talking replacing floors, walls, even a toilet and bathtub...) but one thing I did when I had energy was "ragging off" in the bedroom and it wasn't that hard to do. If you like the pink but want to tone it down a tiny bit, get some glaze and ty it (your local paint store should have booklets explaining the process). That way you can control how much of the pink shows through.

But if Pepto pink is what you want-- go for it! Sounds like fun. I'm sure you'll find a lot of good inspiration at Disney and that thing Maria described sounds way cool!

I don't know how funky you want to get, but you might try a visit to your local craft store and find something to jazz up that ceiling fan of yours! Or if that's not allowed, maybe there is a mirror in your room you can accent. Princesses need JEWELS. I bet you can find some pretty fancy knobs and replace the old ones on your dresser. Little touches like that make a nice difference without costing too much.

I have never seen Trading Spaces but I have heard it's good!

This is something I have always wanted but haven´t found it here yet. My sister´s room has very little stars in the walls and ceiling, that get "charged" with the light, so when she turns it off, they glow in the dark for a while. They came with her house... the previous owner had them and she liked them and kept them. They look soo cool!

Also a friend of mine´s daughter´s room has some sort of a net made of veil with fairy godmothers hanging from it on top of the bed, I think they are dream catchers but they look like fairy godmothers flying on top of the bed. Looks cute. :animwink:

Id be careful with putting anything on a fan. They will throw off the balance of the fan, and the fan will make annoying noises. Even painting the fan can throw off the balance.

LOL I used to hang stuff off of mine! Didn't affect it that I could see, but who knows.

a while ago, i had my fan running, and i was taking a bass guitar off of my shouders, and i lifted it high enough that the head of the guitar hit the fan. it put a small dent in the guitar (this particular guitar is a peice of crap, so don't worry), and a small dent in the fan blade, which knocked it off balance. it makes noise, and is very annoying.

If you do put something on your ceiling fan, make sure it is real secure, you don`t want those fary godmothers flyig off the bades and through a window or worse! LOL! By the way, where in Ohio are you?:)

Lol, my dad just told me today that I shouldn't put any kind of jewels on the blades....for the same reason darthdarrel said! Haha!! I'm from southern Ohio. Right on the Ohio River.

Hey, the fairy godmothers I was talking about were not hanging from the fan, but from the ceiling on top of the bed!

I was just thinking the same thing as your dad told you...don't glue anything to the blades  Marias idea sounds fun, about the fairy godmothers.

Bamboo7, I Love Trading Spaces. You'll have to let us know for sure when your friends will be on. Where do they live? Has anyone seen "Changing Rooms" on BBC? I've watched it a few times and Whoa!!! some of the colors they use. I'm not sure if it was just the certain show I caught or if they are all pretty wild like that. Goodluck on your room wdw*babe

Fans can be rebalanced by placing pennies on them with tape. Just a thought.. dust it first though.

I used to get tinsle-happy every year for christmas and we'd hear it screaming through the air until Halloween when we finally figured out what the sound was...

One way to not offset the balance on your fan:

Paint identicle patterns on it. Not the whole fan blade, just a small pattern near the end or so. Get creative. Maybe just a star or two.

My fan is black and painted with a pattern done in glow in the dark paint, at slightly increased distances from the center so when my fan spins at night it "swirls."

You can spend 10 bucks on an EZ Bow Maker, some fancy wired ribbon, and some florists wire in order to make yourself a lovely little bow-covered room. You can even go around the top of the walls to make a 3D border of bows and ribbon swags between.

Pushpins make great bow hangers (another christmastime discovery).

Have you considered a nice elaborate mirror to gaze into? One with a nice golden frame? Combined with a good wooden handled hairbrush you can sit around and say "I am the fairest of them all!" all day.
