I'm surprised that everybody seems to love this movie. My wife and I saw it opening day and were both rather disappointed. We are both fans of the original, and this one just didn't have the same feel. It was wonderful to see Julie Andrews sing again after they said she never would. Wonderful! 
It's a good movie, but different and nowhere as good as the original (At least in my opinion)
As far as a sequel, I agree that it would be good to see one, but I don't think it is going to happen. I've read several interviews where Anne has stated that she is not planning on doing another movie like Princess Diaries or Ella Enchanted because she is done with that type of character and wants to branch out as an actress. I think she also mentioned this on Conan O'Brian's show. She is a trained singer, hopefully she will do a musical. I wold love to hear her sing
