During previews and the first few weeks of being open, it did break down a lot. It broke down 3 times the day that I was there, but this was during previews. From what I hear, the kinks have mostly all been worked out so there arent nearly as many problems.

I don't know about broken DOWN, but I can tell you THIS...if you get on Primevil Whirl with two LARGE people, that thing will beat the HECK out of you!! It's like it's lop-sided or something. My sides and back were sore for 3 days after I rode that thing.:(

Didn't have a problem with it when we were there Memorial Day week. We went on several times with no wait. In fact, one of the times we rode it, I was surprised that they had both tracks running ( not a huge crowd at that early hour).:)

The ride is not what makes Animal Kingdom. The animals do! I love this park because of the animals! I can sit and watch them all day. I feel sorry for the people that just breeze through this park and miss the wonder and beauty of the animals. It really does make me appreciate the different living creatures in this world.

Is Primeval a good enough ride to go to AK for.
No.

They should be ashamed for opening a park with so little to do, and charging the same admission as MK or EC. It's insulting. I went to see animals, and saw a bunch of fancy cages.

So little to do? I don't think so.

Fancy cages - maybe - but at least they are not couped up like a zoo. Animal Kingdom has plenty to do if you appreciate animals. The Pangani Exploration Trail and the Maharajah Jungle Trek take a long time to do if you care to observe.

Even so AK is just like MGM when it first opened, the park wasn't finished. Yea, honestly they could have done a little more with it, but, the parks that are not finished when they are opened allow Disney to expand more to the wants of the public instead of tearing down a ride and putting a new one up. Even though people think there is not a lot to do at AK, if you look for more things than just rides and the shows they have, it can be made into an all day park. They have the exploration trails and a bunch of other activities.

AK is quickly becoming my favorite park. I love the fact that the park does not have the hustle and bustle of the other 3 parks. We adore the Chester and Hesters and the Primeval Whirl is a blast !

Hey Thumper...wonder if our group was riding it when you were! We were there same time.
Now back to the post, I would say for our group with small kids and all, that PWhirl isnt worth the trip to AK, Bugs Life is what gets us there for a few hours. I am not about to use an entire day off of my park hopper pass for just AK though. We are fairly close to the StLouis Zoo which is free, has wonderfully modern animal areas where the animals roam free and you wonder how they keep them contained, reminds me of AK without an admission charge, so if you aren't into animals then go early hit what you think you would like and go hop some place else. We have seen the shows the kids only wanted to sit through Tarzan Rocks this time around, but everyone is different...thats the great thing about WDW...four parks, water parks etc...everyone can find something to do that makes them happy.

By charging the same price as the other parks... they lead you to assume that each holds as many attractions, shows and things to do as the other parks. If it doesn't, they shouldn't be charging the same ammount.

Can you in all honesty say that the EACH park holds the same number of shows & attractions to hold the same admission price?

They say it's "not a ZOO". They're right... I can go to a ZOO 6 times, for what Disney charges, and learn and see more for my money.

Did I hate it? NO.

Did I feel ripped off at the end of the day? YES.

Bearboysnc I think you hit the nail on the head with your post. For us the zoo is no cost, there are things like the train ride that are minimal cost less than $2 adults, but the entire zoo is free for any person to enjoy. I wonder how many single day tickets to AK they sell? If I had used a single day ticket at $50 I would have complained to anyone who could hear me. For us though we hopped back to MK until closing time. Probably wont spend an entire day at AK on our next visit, but the kids love that Bugs Life so much we will definately stop by. We were gone before closing time at 6pm.

I caught a quick spot on the news...apparently PW is beating the heck out of guests and causing the occasional serious (but not fatal) injury.

I believe that - we noticed when you ride it in the afternoon, the track is more "oiled" up, giving you more whip around those turns!:hammer:
