Pressed Penny Question

Oh man, I'm so looking forward to getting a boatload of smashed pennies when I'm down there later this year! I've been collecting since I was a kid. One of my folders has four spots for what I'm assuming are pressed quarters, so I might try to get one of those at each of the parks. I also want to find as many as I can for the individual rides.

It can get addicting and frustrating. I use to map out all the ones I had, which ones I wanted to go for, and where all the machines were. It got so tedious because machines were moved, dies changed, and machines broken down. I must have about 400 pressed coins. Some are dupes, some didn't come out great, and it was a chore. I had them all in folders. Now, they are just in a box tossed in together.

I'd recommend just getting 2 - 5 in fresh pennies from your bank, and 30 - 50 in fresh quarters, and pack them with you in your baggage.

Wow - that's a lot of pennies! I usually bring 6 quarters and 3 pennies each trip. Three squashed pennies is enough per visit.

OK, that is an awesome idea with the pressed pennies. I can foresee me doing something like that in the future with different character silhouettes.

I'm planning on doing many of the penny presses on our upcoming trip, but I have a question regarding the. Do you need to bring your own pennies? Or do they supply the penny? I've heard conflicting information about it.

We are Canadian so while we don't have circulating pennies anymore, however I recently found a cache of old pennies I was "collecting" when I was young. They aren't worth anything, so I thought this would be a neat use for them.:p
Actually, they are still worth something because they still are legal tender and can be turned in at banks or accepted as tender if a business chooses (they don't have to). Since they remain legal even though rarely if ever used you should know p, for what it's worth, that defacing or damaging them like pressing them is illegal under Canadian law.
