Have a favor to ask. I understand that you can buy a folder/book for the pressed pennies @ the World. I was wondering if anyone who is going to be there in the next couple months would be willing to get me the SKU info that I could call and have a couple shipped to me. I'm putting together a trip package for my niece & nephew for this upcoming trip, and have already started saving shiny pennies, and thought the books would be a neat thing to include.

BTW, shiny pennies aren't the best for pressed pennies. The older ones made of a higher copper % press much better. We usually clean them off before the trip with some distilled vinegar, but they are much darker in color than today's pennies.

Tiggerfanatic, We have a few at home. I will take a look for the SKU and post later. Yes, the pre-1981 pennies are recommended.

My DH and I went on a "Pressed Penny Hunt" the last day and a half of our last trip and we had a BLAST! We were like commados running around the parks acquiring the coins we really wanted. I remember we hit Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom all in the same day! Good times... You can get a list of the pressed penny machine at customer service at Magic Kingdom as well.

Is the SKU # the same as the bar code number on the back of the product? I can provide that but I'll need to get home first... :)

Thanks, everyone - I'll be calling Disney Merchandise tonight when I get home.

I did not know that about not using the shiny pennies. I already have about 50 put aside!! Guess I'll go home and empty the penny jar and look for some old ones to clean. One thing I did discover about collecting the pennies, having to carry all the quarters along really weighs your pockets down!

There's actually two of them - one has Sorcerer Mickey on the front (it's the one I picked up) and there's another one that's Princess I believe.

I read on here once about someone who used Mini M&M containers to store the stacks of coins around w/them. I thought that was a great idea! If I ever do a pressed penny hunt around WDW I'm going to bring some of those with me. :)

my DW and I started to collect pennies on our first trip together in sept. 07. We had a great time finding the machines for our favorite rides, characters, sections of the parks(i.e. future world, tomorrow land) also, the only way to get the resort ones is to go resort hopping. and, we used the mini m&m's tubes and it worked great. we had one for the quarters and one for the pennies.

It's a good idea, or you can just go to just about any collectables place and get plastic coin tubes of the correct size (penny, quarter, etc) for about 25 cents each.
