Prediction ?

Hey all,

So as many of us have been anxiously awaiting the Feb 2014 hours to be released. They are still not on the waltdisneyworld.com but they are here:

http://www.wdwmagic.com/calendar.htm

I used Touring Plans to predict the hours and there were some BIG discrepancies. So now I have to go back to the drawing board on what to do which days.

I am really surprised how off the hours are.

Has anyone experienced this with planning? That touringplans.com was that off? Or that WDW came out with hours that were so off from the predictions? I wonder if that is why they took so long to release them. o_O

I know right??? These hours seem REALLY off to me! I had 1 night with EMH evening at DHS and Epcot. Now everything is all messed up. I know this isn't a big deal - i'm just lucky to be able to go back. But I really was thinking touringplans.com would have been more accurate. And the hours are still not up on the disney website. Do you think these are predictions too?

There seems to be a discrepancy in hours b/t wdwmagic and the Walt Disney World site in one example...I looked at Saturday 10/19 for Studios and wdwmagic says 9-6, whereas on the Walt Disney site it says 9-7:30. *shrugs*

Wow. HS closing at 7pm? I'm so used to going when they are open long enough to do two Fantasmic shows. And EPCOT with no EMH evening hours?
Odd.

Feb is showing Epcot evening EMH on Fridays, not sure if you saw it before Steve had updated it.

Nope, those appear to be official. As of now at least they are matching up with the TA calendar.

I typically use historical hours from actual disney calendars. Doesn't really change much from year to year.

Lately they have been very different. Planning for an upcoming trip, that was on the same dates as last year. Updating my spreadsheet with park hours, and the hours were shorter on about 80% of the dates. Lately they have been announcing shorter and shorter hours 180 days out, and then modifying as it gets closer if they have perceived demand. I think last trip had the times extended by 3 hours in some cases based off of what was initially announced by WDW.

Discrepancies are common. In many cases, the official site has typically been wrong. Many "unofficial" sites go off the Travel Agents calendar, which is often released earlier than the official site. And if changes get made, unless Steve (or whomever he has appointed official calendar watcher) checks the calendars on a daily (or even hourly) basis, it may take a few days for the changes to get updated.

Def noticed lots of late changes to hours. Booked a trip for Labor Day and Sun was MK till 11. Now showing on MDE as MK til 1am with EMH till 3. (Glad we planned Epcot that day because it appears MK will be very busy)

Thanks for all the info! Do you think the EMH hours will change or are those dates in stone? And what if they extend hours on those EMH dates. For example, DHS says it closes at 7 pm and EMH closes at 9 pm. Is it likely they will extend hours on a EMH date?

Also, our trip overlaps with March. Is it safe to use the pattern in Feb for EMH hours - for example, when MK will open late - to predict March's EMH dates?

I know that when we go in Sept (slow season as well) and they normally schedule HS 7 with EMH til 9 then push it out til 11 or 12 a month or two out. I would use last years hours to plan. They dont change that often anyhow. Good luck!

Typically once they set an EMH schedule rotation, it stays the same for a while. Haven't paid close enough attention historically to say how often they change, but it's usually with a new schedule.

As far as keeping an EMH night open later, if they detect the demand, they will keep it open later. Especially if they are talking about a 7 or 9 PM closure. You just need to keep watching periodically and see what changes they make as it gets closer.

I was hoping for some late night ADR's but I guess I will just do the "normal" dinner time option to play it safe. :) Thanks!
