Pre-Trip Rituals

Hey! Does anyone have any pre-trip rituals? Are there things that you MUST do before you leave for the greatest place on earth? Every time I make my ressies I start my Countdown to Disney Days. I HAVE to look at all my Disney Park tapes (MK,Epcot and MGM-hoping to get AK in August) and listen to the music from the parks (including the whole Haunted Mansion ride). Oh, I also make Mickey Waffles :slurp:

My mother thinks im obsessive (that doesn't stop her from watching the tapes with me, though :D), My DH just leaves me to my madness (August 2004 will be his first time for our Honeymoon) my DD (10) is turning out just like me ;) and my DD (5 mos.) is in Disney Boot Camp. :)

 You sound like me! I usually watch our old vacation tapes that my dad taped. I read everything about WDW. Even if I already know it! I bug my family CRAZY with talking about it so much! But they understand because we're all Disney Freaks! :p

Talk about a WDWD trip........out come the photo albums, vacation planning tapes & every music CD we own that has Disney music on it.
Start hitting the WDW site to get price quotes.
Make the reservations & start the countdown.

This year we are going in July...there was a panic for 3 days because we couldn't find the album with the pics from the last 2 trips in it......

One ritual I am sure most people who only go every couple of years like us is to go shopping for new clothes. I am not quite sure why we do this other than we dont want to be seen on vacation in our normal everyday comfy/worn clothes which would probably be more comfortable than the new ones but we do it anyways. One other thing we do is try and not watch the old videos or look at the pictures as much because we want fresh thoughts in our heads when we get there. The last ritual is worry about all the planning. I have started that already and we still have 445 days till our next trip!

I start my Disney Countown very early and count down each day... which is more torture than fun, but I do it anyway. Then I watch all my Disney planner videos in chronological order... while looking at all the old photo albums!

Planning videos, old photos, I re-buy all the books that have the same information each year that I already know in them, many, many, many trips to the Disney Store. :) I also become obsessed with the boards, reading trip reports and seeing everyone elses pictures.

My traditon is not before I go but the morning after. I get the same thing every morning while up in Orlando, or on the property, McDonalds pancakes and sausages w/ orange juice or milk!!!!!!!

I always make tons of lists before I go. Then I keep revising them and making new lists. I also will pack my suitcase too early and then forget what's in it, then re-pack it. -Stephanie

This sounds like my wife the queen of lists. She also packs her suitcase about a month ahead of time. I wait till the night before. And she packs WAY to much stuff.

I read my guidebooks (that I've read over and over), reminding everyone of how much fun this is, and that is... My husband gets kind of tired of it, but WHO REALLY CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We pull out the photo albums, watch the planning DVD, I am a list maker. I look at the boards everyday even tho I tell myself not too. My husband starts looking at the atlas even tho he could get us there with his eyes closed. The one thing that my daughter and I do that we just love, we make a countdown calendar for the last month. We cut out Disney pics and paste them on sheets of paper and write a number on it. All the way to the day we leave. It's fun and it makes the time go fast when she gets to pull a page off everyday. Our next trip is in May and it can't get here fast enough for us.:)

OoOoO.. When it's the night before our trip.. I'm like a firecracker on the 4th of July.. I'm ca-razy! lol. I usually make this huge list of what I want to bring, and then pack it, and then forget everything, and it's just weird.. I cant go to sleep either the night before..

I also make a big CD of my fav songs at the time to listen to on our 13-14 hour trip.. heh heh.. never stop at South of the Border folks!:hurl:

I don't really have a ritual now cause we live close and go all the time - although my wife gets disneyed out, I never get tired.

But my son (5) is forever reading the brochures and constantly wants to talk about the rides. He just realized that Disneyland has some different rides and now bugs us to take him to California.

When I was a kid and lived in New Orleans, my parents took us to Disneyworld once. Unfortunately, my dad surprised us and told us the day before we left. That night was crazy, packing and everything. And my one ritual I did before all trips when I was a kid was to empty out my bank, count my money and dream of what I was going to buy with it.

Pre-trip rituals....hmmm....

Well for starters I save up money for spending just in case I see something I like. I normally pack my suitcase the night before we leave (for me, it's not that hard to pack: enough shirts, pants, socks, underwear for 2x the length of our stay) and I pack my bookbag with essentials in the plane or at the resort (music, books, sunglasses, at times a pair of backup shoes/sandals, camera). And the one tradition that will never change...I never sleep the night bfore the trip  .

OMG!!!!!! How could I forget this? We save all of our spare change in a big jar...then for weeks before we go we sort & roll them up. They had about $75 - $80 to split to spend on goodies last August.

I pack 2 weeks, then re-pack 1 week ,and 3 days, then the day before I leave.

the morning we leave, we get crispy creme dounuts on our way to the airport.

and the first thing we do is always run for the pool the minute we get in our room!
