Pre-philharmagic?

I should clarify... It's not that it's dead when I go, its just that it doesn't have a buzz about it on the outside. I guess it's just the appearance of being underappreciated. It's typically 80% full when I go.

And you know what drives me NUTS? People stopping halfway down a row, even with the CM saying 30 times to move all the way down. I want to slap the back of their heads and say MOVE. ALL. THE. WAY. DOWN.

I never miss it. It gives you that nostalgic feel and it's what Disney is all about. From Peter Pan to Aladdin to Beauty and the Beast to all the characters etc. It exploits the goodness and magic of Disney. Plus it's good to give Donald kind of his own attraction. The hidden mickeys are always fun to look for during the show.

I love it! I also love to take my nephews in to see it. Here is an actual event that took place at Philharmagic with my brother and his 4 year old son:

4 year old: Here I don't want these anymore (as he hands his 3D glasses to Dad)

Father: Why Not?

4 year old: When I wear them people throw things at me.

:) :) :)

True story LOL

Last trip was the first time I went and saw it. It was really good. So was the Legend of the Lion King when it was done there and it was much better than the Festival of the Lion King at AK.

Philharmagic is always full when I see it, it just never has a line because the theater is extremely high in capacity.

I do enjoy Philharmagic but I do miss the original Lion King Show in MK. Loved the costumes.

Costumes? It was mostly puppets.

I think Rafiki was the only one in costume.

I'm surprised so many people loved that show - it's responsible for one of my worst Disney memories ever. I LOVED the Mickey's Musical Revue - and when I went back in college I saw it was the Lion King and wanted to check it out. I remember being so annoyed I was watching a bunch of puppets - and the show seemed to go on FOREVER. I also don't particularly care for the Lion King story so that may have something to do with it, I suppose.

I absolutely love philarmagic! However, I think they should update it a little. Maybe add some Tangled/Princess and the frog. Even Lilo and stitch surfing would be cool. But I wouldn't want them to get rid of any of the scenes they have now because I love them all. And I know they can't make the show that much longer....

I just had a discussion with myself in this post.....

We took our first trip last summer and we all loved Philharmagic so much that we watched it multiple times on our visit (actually at least once each day we were at the MK) It was one of the few things that was a major hit across the wide range of ages that we have (we were 35 and 36 the boys were 16 and 8). Also we all agreed that we liked Its tough to be a bug even more and we all agreed that festival of the lion king was a waste of time. But we also all liked the Nemo show at AK.

I remember the Mickey Mouse Revue. It was fun!

It does seem to belong to a previous era, together with other ' look! singing audio-animatronics'-shows like the Tiki Room, Country Bears, America Sings. Perhaps the Revue would feel slightly old if it were still around.

I think the format could still be hugely succesful within an attraction with a larger scope, such as Splash Mountain. People just don't want to sit still and watch a theatre show anymore. They need to be moved around during the show.

The Little Mermaid might revive the art of 'AA Musical' for the MK. :o

I agree Philharmagic is a great attraction, but for reasons I can't entirely explain I'm never in a big hurry to see it anymore.
There's only so many times one can watch a movie. Thunder Mountain I could ride all day long, every day of my stay. Pirates I do every day of my stay, once a day. A movie based attraction I only need to see once every trip, if that.

I agree with this, but at least Philharmagic is more music than story focused (as has been mentioned before) which makes it have better replay value.

I'm not sure I understand why people want Legend of the Lion King back, when there's a much better LK show at AK.
