Hi everyone, it will be my first time at Le Cellier in my next trip to the world. I'm from canada and I know what a real good poutine is. When I saw on Le Cellier Menu that they had a Poutine I was really wondering how it was. Does anyone who know poutine or not ate it there? Looking for reviews and pictures if you do have some!
Thanks :)

First it's apparently different depending on if you go for lunch or dinner. I've had the lunch version and thought it was extremely delicious. However, I'm not Canadian and I've heard from others that it's just ok compared to what they're used to. Some also say that it's not truly poutine at all. There was a thread on this a week or two ago so you might be able to find out more there.

My understanding is that the lunch version is inauthentic and kind of gross. It's made with that "plastic cheese" orange cheese sauce, whereas the dinner version is made with actual cheese curds. I'm not sure how else the two differ.

The lunch version (unless it's changed in the past two months or so) is definitely not made with the plastic cheese. The cheese is yellow/orange but is real cheese melted. The menu listed it as black diamond cheddar cheese curds but I honestly don't know the difference between curds and normal cheese but it definitely was not sauce.

Poutine in North Dakota is delish. A platter of fries, deep fried pepperjack cheese curds with a cup of gravy. No extra melted or cheese sauce. This sports bar has several kinds. This happens to be my favorite.:)

It is nothing like the poutine I had when I was in Nova Scotia, which was fantastic. What I have had at Le Cellier was good, just not the same as what you get in Canada. I hope you enjoy it! Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks for all the answers!
I think I saw a picture of that orange melted cheese poutine and was kind of afraid that it was actually called a poutine. In Québec, we typically use cheese curds or what we often call in french «le fromage squick squick» because of the sound it makes when you eat freshly made cheese curds.
Some restaurant even offers a variety of 20-30 different types of poutine, so there is poutine for every one :slurp:!

I am actually looking forward to trying Poutine this October. Here in Jersey, fries with brown gravy are a big hit, and I love those, and love cheese, so I figured Id love this as well. I just hope I pronounce it right!!! (Po'teen?? is that correct??) or Poo'teen?? Nothing like talking like a tourist on vacation :ROFLOL:

Poutine is not quite like Disco Fries (and man did I used to eat a lot of Disco Fries)

If you want to try Poutine and you are not in WDW, you can head 4 or so hours north to Manchester NH. For some reason poutine is big in that city. It is also a nice little city to visit. I love their airport - all 8 gates :)

WDW Poutine is not bad, just not as good. As somone else said, the cheese lacks the "squeek"

The "poutine" in that TR looks like Disco Fries. - Crinkle Cut Fries, American Cheese, and Brown Gravy - It is a NJ Diner staple, but is in no way poutine.

This picture is similar to the first picture of the Cellier poutine that I've seen. Like you said it, this doesn't look in anyway like a Poutine you would eat here.

Anyone here from the Detroit area? I looked on the net and across the river in Windsor there is a place called Frenchy's Poutinery. Might be worth a try sometime:shrug:
