Potter Package

OK, I have admitted to never staying at a Universal resort, and I'm really craving to now... I was looking at their site and saw they have a Wizarding World of Harry Potter package... The details are:

- Early park admission to experience Wizarding World of Harry Potter and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man
- Breakfast at The Three Broomsticks (one per person)
- Hotel accommodations at a Universal partner hotel
- 3-day base ticket to both Universal Studios Orlando theme parks (one theme park per day, which I don't mind as I don't have to park hop)
- Access to live entertainment at Universal City Walk

Starting price per adult at the partner hotels are $305 per adult for the 4 nights, and starting price per adult at the on-site hotels are $679 per adult for the 4 nights...

Honestly, for those of you who have stayed at the on-site hotels, does this sound like a good deal for two adults for 4 nights??? If I do my math right, the entire package would cost $1360 or there abouts...

What are the partner hotels? Does that still get you their version of line skipping? How did you get that picture of my woman in the morning?

I'm guessing one of the partner hotels is the Wyndham which is pretty much right outside the gates... I don't know the others for sure... And it doesn't seem like you'll get Express Pass for staying in a partner hotel... But I'm mostly interested in the on-site hotels and if the deal offered for on-site is really worth the price of if there are better deals out there to be had...

As for the picture, well, Universal got it for me... :lookaroun

Its probably more than most would want..hence its positioning

Just buy a two day ticket and one night in the onsite hotel... at about 250 for a room... then add your ticket price ~130 a head and have all you need.

The only thing extra in that offer is breakfast

Yea Flynn.. I just ran some numbers, looking at Hard Rock, 4 nights in October, plus 3 day base tickets (did not include Express Pass since I'd get that by staying at Hard Rock and did not include any food options).. Prices are almost similar... Not much of a discount, or deal...

They key is your express pass (from the hotel) is good for the day you check in and check out.. so a one night stay in a hotel is good for TWO days of express pass.

I would honestly just book your own onsite hotel and settle the theme park admission to what works best for you.

This way you can get to Express Pass it all day at either park and as far as I can tell the only way the Potter deal is really worth it is if you are are going at a very busy time and only care about having the Wizarding World fairly dead. You can get a similar experience with any part of the park by just hitting that up first when you arrive in the morning.

With the breakfast deal I would look at it as if it would you be wanting to eat a breakfast there anyway? Because most of your early admission will be taken up by the breakfast most likely. I would keep your money to eat where and what you want.

Yea cell, that's what I'm going to do... Maybe stay there two nights cause I usually do Universal 3 days anyway, so two nights at the hotel gets me three days of express pass... Works for me... I really don't need the breakfast...

Thanks everyone!!!!

Depending on when you go, it can be cheaper to get one AP if you stay onsite. Using the weekend of June 1-3 (Friday check-in, Sunday check-out) and 2 adults as an example:

Rack rate at the Royal Pacific (Universal's least expensive onsite hotel) is $274/night, total room cost including taxes and service charge is $616.50 for 2 nights. One 3-day out-of-state non-hopper ticket is $136/person. Total cost for 2 adults: $888 (616 + 136 + 136).

AP rate at the Royal Pacific is $184/night, total room cost is $414. One 3-day non-hopper ticket is $136/person. One out-of-state AP ticket is $260/person. Total cost for 2 adults: $810 (414 + 136 + 260).

So you can get a better ticket (good for 1 year and with park hopping) while spending less money. The disadvantage is that you have to pick up your AP before checking in.

Note that AP rates for later in the year have not yet been released. Also note that I have not included the prices of taxes on the tickets.

Keep in mind they do have the stay more save more discount as well as aaa discounts, so you probably won't be paying rack rate. I was looking into an annual pass but the numbers didn't work out in my favor for a three night stay in September.

I'm looking at the annual pass too... especially since I feel like Universal will be taking more of my time away from WDW...

Excellent point. The room savings achieved with a UO AP largely depend on when and how long you stay. As you note, UO offers discounts to the general public the longer you stay, typically starting at 3 nights. The UO website advertises 10% up to 4 nights, 15% for 5 or 6 nights, and 25% for longer stays. In addition, AP room discounts are not always available. In order to determine if an AP makes sense, each person has to crunch the numbers for their particular date of arrival and length of stay.

If you know a UO team member (or know someone who is good friends with a team member), have them book a room for you. My friend checked prices recently for his discount, and could get Hard Rock for $50/night in May.

Definitely look into that. Between staying for three days, saving ten percent of food and merch you would get anyway and then the potential for hotel discounts.

I love my AP.
