Possible to Change Resort?!?

So in sure you all will call me crazy for even suggesting this (LOL) but here it goes;

We will be down in the world Nov 12-18 and we are staying at All Star Movies. We know that magic bands and FP+ aren't available at this resort yet, but with 2 little kids we want to be able to utilize FP+.

I got my vacation package with free dining through a pin I recieved in the mail and was wondering if I would be able to switch to a resort that is offering FP+ options and still be able to keep all my package intact?!?

We still have some time before online check in and before our 45 final payment day to switch if we want.

Are resorts still going to be testing in November? Has anyone booked anything fP+ for November yet?

There are still rooms available at Pop when I check online, I really don't know what to do. I have been to the world probably 20 times so I do know my way around the legacy fast pass very well, I would just like the ease of being able to book certain attractions in advance especially with my little boys, it would just be so much easier!

Am I crazy?!? LOL suggestions or help please...

Currently, no testing is beyond October 31st. No one can book FP+ for November. Personally, I would not go through the hassle of trying to change resorts (and paying any penalty charges) simply to get MagicBands. You are going at a very low crowd time, and regular fastpasses are still available if you want them.

More than likely not. You can switch resorts, but getting the same discount package is doubtful. The only way to know for sure is to call.

I tend to disagree with the other posters. I know what it is like to want to try the Magic Bands. My family and I were booked to stay ay POFQ starting on September 28th. We got a free dining deal utilizing a bounce back offer from last year.

A month or two ago I found out that PORS was actually doing a full Magic Band roll out to all of their guests (they are still calling it testing) starting September 3rd. I called and spoke with a CM and decided to make the switch. Luckily enough for me, PORS had rooms available that would work with my particular offer so it didn't cost me a dime to switch an I would be able to use the FP+.

The moral of the story is, you won't know until you at least make the call and try. I did it and it worked out for me.

Also, if a particular resort has been in the testing phase for the Magic Bands, more than likely they will continue to offer it for the resort guests moving forward, this has been the recent trend. Disney may not have released the FP+ reservations yet for November but I'm sure they will within the next 2 - 3 weeks. They are rolling reservations out in phases.

I personally was able to make all of my family's FP+ reservations (once I switched from POFQ to PORS), way before I received any type of notification from Disney. You have to be diligent and check the website every day. Also, if you do make the switch over to a new resort that is offering the Magic Bands, make sure you go through online check in again. That will open up various parts of the FP+ system and Magic Band customization.

Good luck with you decision and have a great trip.

If you call and they can switch you with the same deal I say go for it! I've thought of doing the same for my trip but we can't get FD for our dates anymore.

You can switch, but only if the resort you are trying to switch to also has availability under that discount. You are more than 45 days out, so should have no penalties if you do make the change. However, keep in mind that the resorts doing testing could change at any point, so you may change to a resort that offers it now, but doesn't then. I'd stick with the resort you like better as a resort, and take your chances.

I just got the MB's at All Star Music for my October trip.
So excited to hear this! Many keep saying oct. 1st or Nov 1st are when the bands should be out at ALL the resorts so here's having my fingers crossed!!!

You are the first person I've heard of on here say that they got bands at All Stars!!!

We have a reservation at POFQ beginning Oct 12th. I didn't think we would be able to participate in the FP+ test. I tried a few different times to access FP+ through My Disney Experience but it would not let me do it. I checked again this morning and clicked on FP+. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it allowed me to make selections. I was also able to access MagicBands and Cards and customize our bands. I don't know if it is because we are now less than 30 days away or because they have now added POFQ to the test? Either way, it is working. It may be worth it for you to wait and see.
