You are confused. Castillian is from Spain. It's the variety spoken in Northern and Central Spain. It's also the accent I use, though with it you sound like you're lisping.

While, I know Castile, geographically, I am not all that familiar with the dialects. I do know that, much like German, the Spanish taught in schools is far different than what is actually spoken.

I just looked it up. Plus that's the accent I use that my Spanish-speaking friends told me is completely Castillian that I inherited from my Spanish 1 teacher.

For Spanish 6, once a month, we were required to find an article from a different country each month. It's amazing how much the language varies from country to country. Later in the year, I found a Nicaraguan article and threw it out because it was muble jumble to me and I was not getting a bad grade on that. I found a different article that I understood.
