Possible DLR trip and questions....

Ok, so it's been about 21 years since I've been to DLR, and my wife and kids have never been. Originally we were aiming at a possible September 18-25th trip, but I got to thinking about the HM. When does the HM come back up from it's NBC redo? I'm really not willing to miss this attraction, even if I'm unsure about how I'll like the layover.

Also, is the park hopper worth getting? Is there enough to do in each park for one day? If we can do this trip for roughly what we've got tied up in our WDW trip, we're going to head out west. I'm really excited because I'm from SoCal and I haven't been back since 1992. Thanks for any info you can give.

Haunted Mansion turns back into its regular self usually in January or February.:/ The NBC overlay stays from Halloween all the way through Christmas. The overlay is popular in California, but I understand you want to see normal Mansion. Just a heads up, Space Mountain may be in overlay mode, too. It's called Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy.

The park hopper is definitely worth it. From Disneyland's gates, it takes maybe 30-60 seconds to get to California Adventure's gates. There's plenty to do in both parks, especially Disneyland. Disneyland has the most things to do out of all the Disney parks, including the international ones, too. Cars Land alone at California Adventure usually takes up a lot of people's time, not to mention the other things to do. There's lots of entertainment in both parks that will keep you busy.

I recommend the park hopper, simply because the parks are so close together. You could be in Disneyland and you decide you want to get on Radiator Springs Racers or California Screamin'... All you have to do is walk over. If you decide to go without park hopping, you'll be fine.

Nice to see another fellow Californian here!

Ok, so it should theoretically be back up by the 20th of September?
Taking last year's calendar and trying to apply to this year, Halloweentime should start on the 13th, which would mean Mansion and Space Mountain would both be reopening then. The 13th matches up roughly with when they started last year, and it's Friday the 13th, so I don't think they'll be able to resist.

When you say late August for closure? I am planning around the 19-21st.. Is there a chance it might be closed then? Please so no!
You should be OK, but it's not definite either way. Based on the way the refurb has gone the past few years, I think you're good. They could, however, decide they need more time this year if they need to fix something up or do more than normal for the overlay.

I was there from Aug25th till 30th. It was only open the first two days, then on Monday it closed.

So you could be fine but you can't be certain.

I'm trying to pull off the rare self-quote here! I don't know if it's been announced separately, but in the new Backstage Pass for APs, it lists Halloweentime as starting on Friday the 13th like I so "boldly" predicted. :D
