I read somewhere that there was a possibility of him coming back. I think it would be cool for them to put HBG back on the ride for some of us who never had to chance to see him.

He was expected to return for Disneyland's 50th, for The Haunted Mansion's 40th and pretty much every year when it reopens after Haunted Mansion Holiday.

Nah, none of those were legit. Back then they didn't even have a new one built.
Now they do. A couple of them. Had them for a while.
I've been expecting to see them added anytime for the last 2-3 years.

As was, it didn't work.

Rumours persist of a new version planned for both DL and WDW.

I wonder if they have considered digital effects to make it work? I would think it'd be a simple solution really. Just project the head disappearing and reappearing in the hatbox only, I think it'd give a fantastic animated quality to bring it to life.
