Positions and Pay Scales

I know of someone looking into a new job who, depending on the positions and pay scale, would like to work for Disney. She currently works in the training department of an insurance company, and although does not have a degree in anything, makes about 75k. She is looking for a new position because of issues ( nothing she has done, it's the people above her acting stupid ) at her current job. She would like to work for disney if they can pay roughly the same, or slightly more to adjust for the cost of living. She does not mind where she works, as long as she has the same pay as at her current job. If you have any ideas of positions she might be suited for could you please post them?

Most people start low and work their way up. Unless she has some serious skills that can top everyone else. Or she's in the right place at the right time. I don't have the number on me but maybe you can google Disney's cast member employment or call their info line and asked to be transfered.

Thats a hard question to answer due to the fact Disney is such a big organization. In the theme park division alot of Cast members do start from the bottom but not all do.At one time it was very hard to get into Management unless you started from the ranks. Now the theme parks division is alot bigger the company has to look externally to hire salaried roles.
What some do is get on to smaller less noticeable divisions like Consumer Products,Internet,Publishing, etc.Than at that point after you put the time in can transfer to theme park division.
Salary is hard to say also.starting off as an entry level CM in the parks will not come close to 75k.In theme parks division that is mid to upper level mgt range.Going to another division of Disney is easier to get that kind of salary but Disney wants only the best so having experience and a degree(especially MBA from top school will get you the $$$$.
My buddy will kill me for telling but when he went to Consumer Products from Target with Degree in Marketing and 15 years experience he got a package of starting salary of 80k plus 10k sign on bonus. After 3 years went to Disneyland in mid level mgt position in Merchandise/Product Developement. He is talking to the Company about maybe spending a year in Hong kong Disneyland.

Hi everyone

I have a friend who works at the Magic Kingdom. I asked him what monorail pilots make and he had no idea. I am having him look into it for me but I figured I would ask here and see if I get a response faster this way. Thanks :D

What about other transportation jobs? What is the pay scale?

The entire CP program pays $6.40/hr unless you are working tipped positions or certain food/beverage positions which can pay more.

Thank You DisneyJoey:animwink:

What do you mean by CP program? $6.40 seems to be very very low... wow.... How does one live on that pay? Even if you have a CDL and want to drive a bus down there it still pays $6.40

Why does food/beverage make more?

You live in their housing...which they take straight out of your pay. It's around 50-90 dollars per week depending on how many roommates you choose to live with... apartments have between 1-4 bedrooms, which are all double occupancy, which means you could have between 1 and 7 roommates.

Also, from what I hear, the discounts Cast Members get around the area are amazing!

Hello everyone and thank you for the responses. I would be applying on my own and not through a college program. I was thinking of a part time job with them.

Thanks again :)

Most everyone starts low whether it's the CP or not, at least the "pawn" jobs that anyone can do. When I went it was only $6.00 an hour. A single person could live on that as long as you are frugal. But if you do have other qualifications that most people don't have, perhaps a CDL then maybe they'd pay you more. But then again, almost anyone could get one so it won't pay the big bucks. You would need to network your way up or have a serious degree that could help take the company to bigger better places.

It all depends where you are at.

Disney starts everyone off lower then you can get elsewhere.

However, they love to promote from within the company and you might take a loss in the short term, but if you look at a 5 year plan, you might find yourself growing within and making it back to the level you were at. That is as long as you apply yourself and show you are the best and of course given there is an opening.

Disney is very topheavy when it comes to mid-management. They have tons of managers who end up making less then some full time hourly cast because of the amount of hours they work. Then you have the execs and VPs who make out very nicely and make some serious money.

Depends where you get in. With Disney its not even "who you know", its all about you have what they want and you are in that right place at the right time.
