i have not seen anything on this yet, but when i first herd of it i instantly thought of WoL and cranium command.

At D23 pixar announced a movie that is set “inside the human mind.” Due in the summer of 2014. it will be directed by Up genius Pete Docter and rumored to be written by Little Miss Sunshine scribe Michael Arndt Further speculation suggests the film will explore the concept of idea creation from an internal perspective.

could this be the answer in re opening WOL with this pixar movie overlay:shrug:

I love Pixar movies, but I really hate the thought of any more Pixar takeovers in the parks. Restore Epcot to its original glory, and stop insulting us!

Cranium Command was just one part of WoL, they'd have to re-theme the entire pavilion to "inside the human mind" for that to make sense.

FYI: The Cranium Command queue/exit has had some recent demolition of minor interior walls making it easier for F&W, F&G and other large functions to access those areas to use as prep. As recent as last week as a matter of fact. Carpet was replaced with plastic flooring and walls were covered for ease of cleaning a few years ago as well.

I think there were plans to make it a weather pavilion once, with the Stormrider simulator. But last I heard they were happy keeping the place as is.

Agreed. No more character overlays! The parks should stand on their own merits.

WDW is timeless, and Universal is dated. It is tough (and expensive) to keep a park current with movie themes. The movies get old and stale. I hope that the more major edits to the parks are based on movies that are becoming more classics than just flash in the pans. Even a successful movie does not mean that it is not going to be easily forgotten. This is one of the reasons that Disney does not jump to fast on high capital cost things for recent movies.

M&Gs are cheap, but attractions are not. You don't want to end up with another stitch do you? They spent a lot of money pushing stitch into the parks, an honestly, who even remembers the movie. Carsland? Maybe, Star Tours.. obviously yes. Indiana Jones is getting stale. A tron attraction sounds good, call me in 3 years, if it is still hot, then maybe. Narnia clearly over stayed its welcome. Pirates, well that was a ride first, so it does not count. Muppets, yep classic. Nemo? Ever been to an aquarium, every kid screams when they find Dory. Bambi? Now that needs a ride.

Lets look at universal... twister? Jaws? Kong (well o.k. maybe kong!) Earthquake? Simpsons (yep, it is a classic). Jimmy Neutron? (I know its gone, thats my point) Transformers??? (Maybe, I don't know if we will remember it in 5 years).

You want an attraction that is going to be around for 20+ years. Look at it from that point of view. Its not exciting, but it is what it is.

The flip side is that sometimes they do jump on a pop culture band wagon. But the wait so long to see if it is worth the investment, then they build it too late... the American Idol Experience is a good example. In 5 years that building is closed.

A weather pavillion would be great. It would bring back back the educational side of Epcot that has been missing for a while now.

I am neither for or against a Pixar overlay, if Pixar did take over WoL pavilion, not only would they have to retheme the inside, but imagine what the outside of the pavilion would look like....painted to look like a human brain! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!

Now as far as PIXAR...I know some are tired of retheming attractions to go with a film, but look at the success of PotC retheming. At least PIXAR is owned by disney. It could be worse...Disney could leave Universal come in and take a pavilion/land! As long as the price was right for profits!! Just kidding, or course.

As much as I loved spending time in WOL and would love to see it return, we have to face the facts: its now a Festival/Special Events Centre and it looks to stay that way permanently (permanently meaning until they build another space they can hold special events).

Good post....it seems to me that some of the most well liked attractions at WDW were the ones that were 'imagineered' from the ground up and not based upon an existing movie....I know about Snow White, Peter Pan,etc. But I'm talking about Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribean, Space Mountain.....of course you have your exceptions like Splash Mountain!

While a weather pavilion would be nice, it would put the nail in the coffin for the separation of east and west in Future World. A weather pavilion should go in west.

I'd say a computer pavilion, but I feel like there are some challenges with keeping that up-to-date. Especially the way processor technology is moving these days.

How about fix Imagination, update Energy, and give some refurbs to SSE and Test Track before something new opens? XD

They have the Millennium Village and the Odyssey building. Good enough.

If StormRider ever came to EPCOT I'd say put it in an Innoventions building or The Land somewhere.

As for WOL, I see it staying a Special events building from now on.

This wasn't a "plan" at all actually. That was an idea made up by members on here.

Probably, misread somehting once, yeah. Good thing I put "I think" on there, "heh?" Instead of "there" "was" a "plan." ;)

That happens here more often than you might think. An idea becomes a rumor, a rumor becomes a plan and the next thing you know Disney screwed up by not building something. The easiest example is xpass. It does not exist in any way, even the most basic details are not yet written, including the name, but people seem to know all of the flaws in the program. It gets hard to keep up with the sourcing and history if the comments.
