my group is all adults and we were going to stay at the port orleans for our trip but i can't decide which side to stay on.

I am from NewOrleans and I think I have seen all french quarter has to offer in the real version so I am wanting to stay at river side but I have never been to this resort so I am not sure if i will be missing out on something.

Any advice guys?

We have stayed at Riverside twice now and have really enjoyed it. We have never stayed at French Quarter but have walked around the resort and used the pool.

I personnally think that Riverside with its larger variety of food choices and beautiful landscaping is the better choice. If you have kids though, I am sure they would really love the French Quarter pool.

Then I would go for the Riverside. It is rated the highest of the moderate rooms.

I love staying at Riverside because it is beautiful. It was the first resort I stayed at on the Disney property. I love the way it is set up....like having to walk to the food court in the morning and evening...

My wife loves listening to the piano player at the River Roost lounge in the evening. It's so upbeat.

We normally stay at Riverside but this trip will be staying at FQ. FQ has just gone through a re-furb, and its a smaller resort. We used FQ pools on our last trip and the kids by all means wanted to stay there. I can let you know in a week if it was worth it.

Well, the rooms are obviously the same size so now benefit either way there. It boils down to the amenities.

If you stay at FQ, you're still a short distance away from Riverside and all it has to offer (and vice versa).

I'd consider Riverside for these 3 reasons.

1: There IS a full-serve restaurant there. Granted, you'll probably be out and about a lot, BUT if you wind up having a day when you just want to get back to the hotel to relax, knowing there's a restaurant (and a much nicer lounge, too) nearby could be an edge.

2: If you're looking for romance, Riverside has horse carriage rides.

3: The fried chicken in the food court rocks like no fried chicken I've ever had before or since.

We have stayed at Riverside and LOVE IT! The mansions are fun to stay in or if you want more romance and seclusion, the Bayou rooms are great. HAVE FUN!!!:sohappy:

I've stayed twice at the French Quarter and recently returned from a stay at Riverside.
We were way in the back at Riverside and it was quite a walk from the lobby. I think it would have been closer to walk from the French Quarter to the Riverside lobby than where our room was.
If you stay at Riverside, I would request a room as close to the front as possible.

I totally agree! The walk can be long from some of the buildings.

Having stayed at both, we prefer the Riverside hands down.
The FQ is nice, but feels like something is missing, due to its smaller size. The recently Rehab at FQ is nice, but I vote for POR!
