Port Orleans vs. All Star

I recently booked a room at the All-Star Music, and was very excited. Then my mom decided to change it to the Port Orleans. At first I was excited, until I learned of the times it takes to get from the Port Orleans to each of the parks.

Here are the times I saw on another WDW site:

http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/distance.html

The times are very excessive in Port Orleans when compared to the times of the All Star. Can anybody tell me if these times are truly accurate, and which hotel you would prefer staying in.

From my travels (and note that I NEVER use Disney's bus system, I drive to all of my destinations), the times are about the same at either resort. So with that in mind, just thank the good lord that you are staying at Port Orleans. It is a vastly superior resort in every imaginable way.

First of all are you staying at PO Riverside (Dixie Landings) or Port Orleans French Quarter (PO) because the times listed for DL are about the same for all stars (within a few minutes). POFQ is the first stop for the PO busses then on to the 5 DL bus stops so that may account for the extra times listed for PO. We've stayed at DL and PO and didn't notice much difference. Plus on the way home from the park PO guests get dropped off first.

As far as quality and such of the hotels, we much prefer DL over PO and AS.

While I am sure that Tyler knows the real scoop, the fact is that the buses are the fastest way to visit the various parks. If you drive a car, you then have to take the shuttle. The buses drop you within quick walking distance. As for bus times to and from the various resorts, I have found that All Stars is usually the best because they seem to have more buses dedicated to the All Star resorts due to passenger demand.

Even if it is a couple minutes longer, the Port Orleans Resort is much better than All-Stars. You will have a better trip. Plus, you can take a Boat to Downtown Disney. Your Vacation was improved.

Disney bus service is so much faster then driving. when we were there last week we waited no more then like 10 minutes for a bus. and then they drop you off right at the front of the parks. if you drive you have to park and take the tram or shuttle service. and if you go to the magic kingdom you have to park at the ticket and transportation center. they do not open the TTC until 9 and by then you can already be in the park. no matter which resort you stay at you will have a wonderfull stay.

OK as if you didnt have enough people ganging up on you!!! I have stayed at the AS Movies and Music resorts plus both sections of PO. Well you should go give your parents a HUGE Smooch for improving your vacation!!! The Moderate resorts are MUCH nicer and have much more in the way of amenities ( more pools, hot tubs, food court and restaurant at most of them) As far as the bus ride, the difference will be minutes if anything at all. I have never noticed as once I Am on the bus, I usually am too busy chatting with my friends or family to notice. I have never noticed any excessively long trips though. You didnt say which part of PO you are staying at, but my heart belongs to the Dixie Landings AKA Riverside one!! What an amazing place!! IF you are staying there you MUST try out Boatwright's at least one morning for breakfast. Id say do that your first morning you may not want to go anywhere else afterwards! Have an amazing time.

ALL of those times are wrong. 18 minutes to get to Blizzard Beach from the All-Stars?! It takes about five...and I can assure you Port Orleans does not take 40 minutes to get to Blizzard Beach...who made that website?! Go with Port Orleans; it's more centrally located on the property and certainly a nicer looking resort.

Just a random comment, I thought there were only 4 stops @ DL (north, south, east and west) :animwink:

it all depends on what you are looking for.

Yes, Port Orleans is one of my favorite resorts at WDW. The place looks very nice. But the All Stars are much cheaper, so I find it strange that they changed to Port Orleans. Seriously, my parents really couldn't care less about the resorts. We end up spending most of the days somewhere else in WDW anyway.

As for busses vs. cars....well, sometimes they are faster, sometimes they aren't, but if I had the chance to be chaufered around everywhere without worrying about parking and stuff, I would take the bus. Whether it is or isn't more efficient, you dont have to drive. :)

Well, I don't think that those times are accurate. I have stayed at both the AS and POR and I love POR more than I could ever love the AS. The POR has great amenities. I always found out that the AS buses are always crowded so usually you have to wait a bus or two to even get on a bus - never mind the ride. This is especially true when a park is closing. I never experienced that with POR.
