Port Orleans Riverside

My friends just returned from Port Orleans French Quater, and they complained that the rooms were worn out and looked like they needed refurbishment, in addition the the grounds looking run down. WE're staying at the Riverside this Oct. and I'm concerned now that the resort is turing into the Carribean, I've never stayed at Port Orleans before. Does anyone know if this is true, or was thier room and isolated incident?:veryconfu

I can't make a comparrison, but we stayed at PO:RS last month and it was OK.

The grounds were well kept and the rooms were nice.

My only critisism of the rooms was in the bathroom where there was some minor marks on the walls, but other than that it was great.

As central florida residents, pass holders, and biweekly to monthly visitors, we stay at Port Orleans frequently. In fact, it's one of our favorite disney resorts for several reasons. ALthough it is not lavish or luxurious like some we stay in, such as Grand Floridian, Animal/Wilderness Lodge etc.., the atmosphere is terrific and the overall layout of the resort is one of our favorites. The rooms are not the best, but as per disney style, they are always clean, and whimisically theme decorated. The location of Port Orleans is great, as we love to frequent Downtown Disney after park hours. The resort has a boat that takes you there, also to Pleasure Island, as well as back and forth to both parts of the Port Orleans resort (French Quarter). The walking paths are quiet and nice, yet you do not have that far removed feeling like we felt when staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. There's plenty to do, and they have a great pool. All in all, for the price, which we usually get for around $79 to $89/night, it's a good value for a disney resort on a budget, and a bit nicer than the all stars. That's just my two bits, of course it all depends on your likes and interests.

I am a big Riverside Fan here...never had any complaints. I love that resort. French Quarter could be a different story, I have not stayed there for about 6 years.

I just got back from WDW, and although I stayed at a different Disney resort, I spent an afternoon at Port Orleans French Quarter. The grounds looked great, the pool immaculate and inviting, and everything seemed quite up to par. Actually, we've stayed at PO many times in the past, and never had a bad experience. I'm sure things will be just fine.:)

I've stayed at PO:R twice. One time was for about two weeks. I really enjoy it a lot! It's a very nice hotel. I also really like the sinks :p

We stayed at Port Orleans in April and are going back in October and have also stayed there in the past and we have no compliants. The pool is great and the rooms are spacious, especially if you get a corner room! We have a waterview this time around so I don't know what to expect there but I have always been happy with the resort. Great food court and you gotta love the boat! Enjoy:)

SnowWhite 5669, you'll LOVE a water view - we had one the last time we stayed there.

Tybroid59, there are two separate sinks outside the bathroom, with great mirrors, fixtures and lighting - if you're traveling with a family, it's great!

Yes! WE have a waterview reservation also. Can't wait, but I like the advise on a corner room. I'll have to call and add that to my long list of requests!
