One of the best perk on properties! I go during the off season and take the boat during odd times of the day, like 3PM or 8PM so it's never full, the view from POFQ to DTD is beautiful and the captain is always very friendly.

Try to make the trip during sunset at least once if you can, it's one of my top ten moments at WDW.

Love the boat to DTD, use it quite a few times during our stays at POR, always feels like a relaxing way to travel, and lovely scenery on the way!

We need time for things to happen.
We've done it a couple of times before, but we HATE waiting around for transportation, so we tend to avoid it.

However - the times we have been on the boat from PO to DTD, I've never once thought
"this sucks get me outta here!!"

Hmmm...believe it or not I think that was a positive review of the Port Orleans River Taxi.

My favorite thing at Port Orleans and the reason I really only stay at one of the two resorts these days --
The trip from Riverside takes 25 minutes. The trip from POFQ takes 20 minutes. They run every 20 minutes until 4:00 pm, and then then run about every 10 minutes. From Riverside, you can expect to wait about 15-20 minutes for a ride between the hours of 4:30 and 7:00 and about 20 - 40 minutes at POFQ during those same hours, otherwise, its usually just a matter of waiting for the next boat to come down the river...Note that the wait coming back from DTD after 9:00 pm might be longer than you might expect -- if you are in a rush the busses will get you home faster...but there is absolutely nothing like that relaxing boat ride back in the evening -- and afterdark, its downright magical

It is awesome but if you are in any sort of hurry, (dinner reservations, cranky kids) the wait can be frustrating

I have a tendancy to be early for everything. If I have to be somewhere at a certain time and I am nervous about the commute, I get there an hour early lol. Thanks for the heads up.

The DWF and I love the Sassagoula River transportation to DTD. It's just a fun and relaxing way to go to and from DTD to POR's. Now before the docks at Captain Jacks were removed. The DWF and I would rent the deck boats at PORs and drive ourselves to DTD and dock the boat at Captain Jacks and go to Ghiardellis' and get Milkshakes and hop back on the boat and just cruise around DTD and then back to POR's. Also don't forget that the Bass Fishing trips will pick you up at POR's and you can fish the whole length of the river into DTD. Great fishing back there and I have a time or two shown the Bass guides what a Guy with a Fly Rod and some Poppers could do on that water. Wife and I have had many Bass fishing excursions on this water and have both caught some really nice sized Bass.

I used to love this when Pleasure Island existed. But I don't need to take a boat to a shopping center, so we haven't stayed there in a long time. Epcot resorts for me, after lots and lots of saving.
