Port Orleans Fench Quarter questions

We first want to thank all those folks that replied to our question regarding airfare; we almost booked a month ago for around $1,000.00 for three round trip tickets. Several people recommend Fare-watch & Fare-compare and we just booked for our November trip for $600.00 with great times. Thank you!!!

Question: We are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter; is there a building that we should request when checking in?

Also, are kids (age 10) allowed in Scat Cat’s Lounge and/or River Roost Lounge?

Any other advice for staying at Port Orleans French Quarter would be appreciated. Thank you!!!!

:)

We kind of put it out of our plans becuase of the size of the resort but now that we are getting closer to our departure date and looking over the resort map; we really do not want to have a parking lot view.

Since value or moderate resorts do not have private patios or balconies to sit on, room "views" are pretty irrelevant unless you plan on keeping the window blinds open and sit sideways on a bed to look at the "view"...which most likely will be of other people walking past your window to get to their own rooms :)

"Preferred" rooms have to do with location, not necessarily view. In the case of POFQ, a preferred room location is not worth the extra $$.

I agree, no need to spring for the preferred room. I have stayed here more than 20 times...I actually prefer building 6,7 or 2 because they are a little farther away from the lobby/food court/bus stops BUT still only a five minute walk and I LOVE walking this resort. I take a lap around every morning, every evening and also walk the path to Riverside and hop on a bus there on occasion...just because it's so peaceful and lovely.

I wouldn't pay for the preferred room at POFQ. The resort is smaller than the other mods and all you'll really be paying for is view and IMHO you won't be sitting in your room looking out your window. Have a magical trip!!

Port Orleans is one my favorite resorts.
I personally like the French Quarter section the best even though Riverside has the better food choices, French Quarter has a great feeling about it, and has a better pool.

The resturants at Riverside is just a short walk down a very nice and beautifully scenic walkway or you can just hop on the boat transport. The boat transportation is another reason why this resort gets high marks.
It takes you Riverside, French Quarter, Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, Treetop Villa's, and two stops in Downtown Disney. All free.

All the area's are nice, but it really just depends what kind of look your looking for. Riverside has its mansion or bayou styles. French Quarter looks like New Orleans.

I know it is hard to believe, but you really do not need a preferred room. THey are all just a couple of minute walk to the bus stop and food court building. We have stayed at POFQ many many times, from 2 to 4 to 7, etc. All good. What I DO think is worth it is an upgrade to the river view. These are along the back side of the resort and have a really beautiful view of the river, mornings with the mist along it, very picturesque. The horse and carriages go by on this route. It has always started our day out in a calm and easygoing manner before going full tilt at the parks. In my opinion, worth the $ for the river view.

Just got back from POFQ about 4 weeks ago. We were in building 4. Have stayed here before, and have stayed at POR. I prefer POFQ as it is smaller and everything is close. Just quainter that POR. Rooms are all refurbished at FQ and have queen beds. They are now working on POR. We have never requested preferred at either resort and have always been fine with that. Everytime we have been upgraded to a garden view without asking.
