Hello All Disney Folk. My question is this. If you book your vacation with a tour operator and all is paid upfront,as is ours. Therefore Disney has received this money via the tour operator. When we arrive to book into riverside,if,and only if,a royal room was available, could we pay upfront at the desk or sign a paper for this upgrade? For example if the extra was $50 per room per night, could we use our credit card for this?

If one is available you can always upgrade. I am sure that you can upgrade through your tour operator also. Disney is always happy to take your money:-). We stayed in the Royal guest rooms in Parterre place room 9111 this past April. We loved it. It really is a plus up from the regular rooms. Good luck!

You can upgrade almost anything on the spot. You can upgrade rooms (if available) or even tickets. (You can add on to them right then and there). I've also added the food plan (even though they say you need 48 hours to do that) So, if you KNOW you want to upgrade... do it now. I've heard that sometimes they upgrade you.... but, I've never actually known anyone who had an upgrade!

You can upgrade thru your Travel Agent even if you are paid in full. If you want to upgrade when you get down there you can but, do you want to risk the upgrade not being available.

Our Travel Agent.

Well unfortunately our travel agent in town is run by young girls who had no idea what QS was on our booking form.Had never heard of using key of the world card to pay for stuff, couldn't understand why we wanted the coach transfer instead of Magical Express, until I mentioned that your flight takes us into Sanford, not MCO.:confused:So to ask them to upgrade us to a royal room we'd end up in the Prince Charles suite at Balmoral Castle. So when it comes to the 10 day mark beveled we get there,I'll go onto mydisneyreservation.com and request a royal room stating my travel agent was unable to do this for us.

While you can request a royal room, the likely hood of you getting it is not high as it is a particular room category that costs extra. It would be akin to booking a standard room at Boardwalk and requesting a club level suite. If it is available your travel agent should be able to get it for you. If they are unwilling to do that then your next best shot is at check in. If a royal room is available they can upgrade you to it but you will be charged for it.
