Good Morning Everyone..Today I'am seeking your advice. A colleague of my DW is at the moment trying to get the best deal for a package vacation to WDW for next year..Between the two travel companies, one has quoted 14 nights at PORS ( including free QS DDP ) for two adults and two kids, boy 6 and girl 8. ( and includes 14 day park tickets ) £5950. Thats about $9000. So she went back to the other travel agent who took a futher £250 off the other agents offer bringing the total to £5700. But the first travel agent said we can't take any more money off,but we will upgrade you to a royal room, free of charge.....In other words the travel company will pay the room upgrading for the £5950 booking..So I'am in a dilemma as Ive never stayed in the Royal rooms at PORS. Altho stayed three times at Riverside, twice at Parterre Place, and can recommend the resort..What would you do.? Would you book the cheaper option and save £250 ($375) or book the dearer option and get the free upgrade to the Royal room..Since they have two kids,I would go for the dearer price and get the free upgrade.I think the average price of the Royal rooms are from $40 per room per night to $60.. So even at the $40 room ( which I believe faces the car parks ) Thats $560 of a saving..Please tell me your thoughts on this one..???

The RRs are rather well done, but I like them for their proximity to the main bus depot (South) near the Lobby building. Very short walk to this depot from the RR buildings, and I found this advice on the PortOrleans.org site before our stay last summer:

Often, buses will call at Port Orleans French Quarter first and if they do not fill up immediately their next stop will be Port Orleans Riverside’s South Depot. Before 10:30am, these buses then go straight on to their final destinations, while other buses service the outer Riverside Depots.

And during our 12 days last July, this theory held true; buses were never an issue. And, we always got a seat.

We stayed there last summer. The rooms were nice. If being in a princess room is something that would make it a more magical stay then go for it. Otherwise, use the cash and add a day or two to the stay.

I would book the Royal Room! It's still a saving, and I'm sure the kids will love it! We're staying in one for our next trip, I CANNOT wait!

Agreed-- and the buildings (Mansions 90 and 95) are super convenient to the busses and restaurants without a long walk. Faing the car parks here is also no problem-- there is a courtyard in back that separates you from the parking, you won't even see it.

Hatter, this is a hard call to make for your DW's friend who is already spending so much $$$. We have stayed in the Royal Rooms three times, and, though they were very pretty, I don't think they are worth ANY extra money.
Even though the supposed upgrade is 'free', I personally would rather have the extra discount.

I loved the royal rooms when I was there in May. Pretty sure I'll be booking one again next time I stay at POR. The theming is excellent, and I like having a guaranteed mansion room. Plus, after a long day of touring, those fiber optic headboards are just hypnotic...

We stayed in a RR in march and it was wonderful. Beautifully themed and decorated and loved the water fountain outside our room in the lawn. Everything was wonderful! I highly recommend it to do at least once!

I love POR, we were there for the Grand Opening of then Dixie Landings, mansions my favorite by far over FC or the rustic Bayou. The Royal Rooms didn't do it for me. The headboards enough to drive me nutty. I just love the classic rooms and was disappointed that they converted both of coveted buildings.
